Prologue

Serena skipped home happily, one friday afternoon from her
Cross Roads Junior High School. As usual the precious princess paid
no heed to her surroundings or those within it. Hardly noticing she
slammed into someone almost immediately tumbling to the ground
afterward. Whoever she had most precariously walked into was still
standing. She looked up to see the mocking face of Darien Chiba.

	" Good afternoon Meatball head!"

She sat on the ground for a second before stretching out her
long, bare legs in front of him before crossing them at the knee.
Darien was dumbfounded, how was he supposed to answer that.

" So? Are you just going to sit there all day?"

" No .. I think .. you'll sit with me," she said and kicked him
behind the kneecaps and he came tumbling down after her.

This spontaneous move brought about a new respect for the girl.
A respect that raised her above every female he'd ever met or talked
to. The two of them sat on the sidewalk just looking at the other
wondering why the other was still sitting. . . . .

Darien was used to women throwing themselves at him, and ignoring
them when they did. Serena had always stood out among the rest because
she never even thought of him romantically.

Now something else was different. Not only was she not fawning
over him, but she was challenging him, and daring him. It was almost
too much for Darien. He was shocked and amazed with her actions.

Serena herself was shocked and amazed. Whatever had possessed
her to kick Darien? Darien! Of all people!

Serena continued to sit there, her slender legs crossed at the
knee. She was bouncing the higher leg slightly, trying to act unfazed by
the fact that she was sitting on the ground with this university student.

Neither said a word as they continued to sit there, in the middle
of the fairly empty Tokyo street. The few passerby's stared at the
couple like they were crazy, but continued on their way.

Serena noticed that's Darien's gaze seemed captivated by her legs.
She glanced down to see that her short skirt barely reached her mid thigh
because of the way she was sitting. She tried to ignore his burning gaze,
but a faint blush rose in her cheeks anyway.

Darien wanted to slap himself for staring, but he couldn't believe
just how long her legs were! He had always thought her an annoying, pre-
teen child, but now he realized exactly how wrong he was.

Slowly his gaze made it's way up her body, taking in the long legs,
and drinking in the milky skin that was bared by her short top. He thought
it was amazing just how provocative the school uniform was. Darien's eyes
continued to move up, and he noticed the miles of golden silk that piled
around her hands, which were still on the pavement behind her. As his eyes
moved up to her face, that was stained a faint crimson, Darien realized that
she knew exactly what he was doing.

"Are you quite finished?" She asked him, the first thing to be
spoken since the fall.

"Yes." He replied, unable to meet her gaze.

"Good." Slowly, Serena got to her feet, and reached over to pick up
her school bag. Darien continued to watch her as she dusted off her skirt,
than brushed off her bag.

Serena continued her way down the street in the direction she had
originally been heading. Darien remained seated on the ground, but turned
enough to watch Serena walked away.

As Serena paused at a crossing, she turned back and looked at Darien.

"I thought you said you were finished." She called, before crossing
the street, and turning from Darien's view.
