In love with her. The words repeated themselves in her
head over and over as she sat facing him. He was in
love with her.
"Darien... I don't know...." Serena shook her head, tears
flooding her blue eyes. "I mean, love! I'm fourteen
year old. I don't know love!"
"I'm not much older, Serena, and I didn't know love until
I met you." Darien replied. "Please Serena, give it a chance.
Give us a chance."
"Darien, this is too much too soon. A few days ago you
were calling me Meatball Head and I was telling you I
hated you! Now your saying you love me, and I'm just
supposed to turn around and love you? It doesn't work
that way. It.. It just doesn't..." Serena faltered.
"Oh God Darien..."
Darien stood up abrubtly and turned away from Serena.
"Fine, don't worry about it. Forget I even said anything."
Darien headed out of her house, and Serena jumped up to
follow him.
"Darien! You aren't being fair! I'm still young. I don't
understand any of this. I've never been told that someone
loves me. I don't know how to deal with this!"
"I'm not being fair?" Darien asked, facing her. "I told
you I love you and all you have to say is that I'm not
fair?"
Without another word, Darien left the house, slamming the
door behind him.
A hand flew up to cover Serena's mouth as a startled, and
completely unexpected whimper came out. She raced up to
her room and threw herself on the bed in full fledged sobs.
"Oh Luna..." Serena sobbed. "I don't know what's... What's
wrong with me! I don't even *like* Darien... Now I've gone
and hurt him and I can't seem to stop crying.."
Her cat purred and rubbed against Serena's cheek, trying
to comfort her.
"Serena! Why haven't you left for scho... Oh darling what's
wrong?" Irene asked, sitting next to her daughter and hugging
her.
"Darien.. Darien..." Serena sobbed.
"Did that boy do something to you?" Irene asked, ready to whip
out teeth and claws to defend her daughter.
"No.. I.. He... He told me he loves me." Serena blurted
out.
"Well that isn't such a terrible thing. He's really very
sweet, and quite attractive too."
"That's not the problem."
"Well then, what is?" Irene asked.
"I told him he wasn't being fair just telling me like
that, and that I don't really care." Serena started crying
harder.
"And you do."
"Yes! I love him!"
"Then tell him."
Serena looked at her mother and blinked twice.
"Huh?"
"Go find him and tell him how you feel."
"For real?"
"Uh-huh! Go now, and I'll call you in sick." Her mom
said.
"Oh thanks Mom! Your the greatest!" Serena threw her
arms around her mom.
"Thanks dear. now, go wash your face and win his heart!"

Taking a deep breath, Serena knocked on the apartment door.
"Coming." A tired voice called. Slowly the door swung open
to reveal Darien.
"Serena!" He exclaimed.
"Darien..." She whispered. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah, sure." Darien swung the door open and Serena stepped in.
He shut the door and Serena turned to face him.
"I love you too." She blurted out, before a blush claimed
her features.
"What?" Darien asked, surprised at the sudden out burst.
"When you left, I realized. I mean, I told you I'm young
and I don't know anything about love, but I did. I do.
I love you." Serena was pacing in his living room as she
spoke. She stopped and looked up at him. Darien still had
a surprised look on his face.
"So then why did you tell me 'no'?" He asked, referring to
when he had asked her out. Serena shrugged.
"You were still conceitd jerk Darien."
"And now?" Darien asked, walked closer to her.
"Your my conceited jerk Darien?" Serena asked, tilting her
head to the side as she looked at him. Darien chuckled.
"Does that make you my meatball head?" He was right in
fron of her now, leaning his head against hers.
"I guess so..." Serena whispered, gazing into his eyes.
"Well, I love you, my meatball head."
