Serena knocked on the apartment door, after checking the small paper
in her hand. The apartment complex was rather posh, but that was rather Darien,
or so she had learned. Waiting patiently for the door to open, Serena glanced
down at the dark oriental carpet that lined the long hallway.

"Hey Serena." Darien smiled at her as he opened the door.

"Hi. I was afraid you might have forgotten, or something." Serena
smiled nervously.

"Not likely." Darien mumbled under his breath. "Come on in."

Darien opened the door wider and Serena stepped in. She slipped her
shoes off and followed Darien into the living room.

"So... What do you want to do first?" Serena asked him.

"What subject do you have the most trouble with?" Darien asked.

	"Math, and science." Serena replied.

	"Alright, let's start math first."

Serena nodded and pulled out her books. She knelt down in front of his
coffee table and began pouring over her math homework. Darien sat behind her on
his couch, leaning over her shoulder to watch her work.

Darien found himself intoxicated with her scent. Whatever shampoo she
used was combining with her perfume and it was altogether far to heady for
Darien. He almost fell off the couch, catching himself just in time.

"Are you okay?" Serena asked, looking over her shoulder at him. Darien
nodded and ran a hand through his hair. Serena smiled and turned back to her
work.

Darien continued to watch her working, occasionally pointing out the
few errors.

"I thought you said you were bad at math?" Darien asked. Serena
giggled.

"Maybe being around you makes me smart! Usually I am."

	Darien chuckled.

"Want to try science now?" He asked her. Serena shook her head.

"I don't have any science today, but I have to read a bunch for English."
Serena sighed and dug into her back, pulling out a novel. Serena stoood up and
stretched, still holding the book above her head.

Darien watched as her school shirt slid up slightly, revealing her
soft, creamy stomach. Again he was reminded of why he was so in love with
her.

'In love?' He asked himself incredulously. 'In love with Meatball Head?
That can't be! I mean, she's... She's Meatball Head, and she's so damn sexy.'

Darien sighed, giving in to what he knew was true. He was in love with
her. He was head over heels in love with Serena.

"Alright, I guess I'll sit up here and just read aloud." Serena plunked
down on the couch next to him and began to read the book.

"I love this book!" Darien exclaimed.

"Really? It's so boring..." Serena sighed. Darien laughed, and Serena
resumed reading.

Darien leaned back against his couch and shut his eyes. He let
Serena's voice wash over him, not really listening to the words, only to
the sound of her voice.

"...before she leapt onto the raft. That was so dif..diff..." Serena
paused, trying to figure out the word. Darien opened his eyes and looked over
at her.

"Here, let me see." Darien reached over and pulled Serena against him,
and covering her small hands with his. "Difficult."

Serena could feel his strong chest against her back and his arms tightly
around her. His hands were large and warm, covering hers comfortably. Serena
fought to turn her attention back to the book.

"...difficult. I'm so surprised..." Serena continued to read, although
slower. She found it extremely difficult to keep her attention on the words in
front of her while Darien was so close.

'What's going on? First I can't stand the guy, then I think we're friends,
and now this? What exactly is this?' She asked herself. 'I'm probably just
imagining things. We're only friends, right?'

"I'm sick of this book." Serena sat up and tossed the book away, onto
Darien's table.

"Alright. We can just read a little bit each day." Darien told her. "Now,
"When is the next test you have to study for?"

"Uhmm.." Serena paused for a minute to think, not pulling
out of Darien's semi-embrace. "Next week, I think."

"What subject?" Darien asked, his lips near Serena's ear.

"Uhmm..." Serena couldn't seem to remember. "Science...
Biology."

"One of my favourite subjects." Darien told her, his arms
tightening unconsciously around her waist. Serena suddenly
found her breathing restricted. She just couldn't breathe.

Lurching forward, Serena began coughing and gasping in
oxygen. A concerned Darien leaned forward and placed a
hand on her back.

"Serena? Are you alright?" He asked, as the couching fit
finally subsided. Serena nodded weakly. "What happened?"

"I don't know..." Serena replied. 'Sure Serena... You don't
know that being close to Darien makes your heart race
and breathing stop.' Scolding herself mentally, Serena
glanced up at Darien.

"I should probably be getting home for dinner soon." She
told him, standing.

"Or you could stay for dinner." Darien replied impulsively.
Serena looked at him surprised.

"I don't know... I wouldn't want to impose, or anything."
Looking uncertain, Serena bit her lip slightly.

"It's no imposition." Darien smiled. "Why don't you call
home and let them know. I'll start dinner."

"Alright, if your sure..."

"I'm sure." Darien stood up and went to his kitchen to
scrounge around for something suitable. Serena made her
way to the phone and dialed home.

"Hi Mom? Yeah, tutoring went fine. Darien asked me to
stay for dinner, is that okay? Uh-huh, uh-huh... Okay!
Umm, Mom? Don't tell Dad, alright?" Serena asked. "Thanks
Mom. Bye!"

"What was that all about?" Darien asked Serena as she
entered his kitchen.

"What was what all about?" Serena hopped up onto his
counter.

"My dad..." Serena sighed. "If he thinks any boy has the
slightest interest in me, he hauls out his shout gun." Serena
laughed. "Imagine that! My dad thinking you liked me, when
you can barely stand me!"

Serena looked over at Darien who had remained oddly
silent.

"Darien, what is it?" She asked. Darien looked up at her,
then smiled. The smile didn't reach his eyes.

"Yeah... Imagine that..."
