Karen Kasumi is a very vibrant and compassionate woman. She was the last to join the Dragons of Heaven and she has a power over fire. Karen is a very light hearted person and almost always keeps her sense of humour.
She makes her first appearance in front of Sorata and Arashi. Karen makes contact with them in order to relay a message from Tokiko, Kamui's aunt, to Kamui. Tokiko had put a spell on Karen and this made her burn down Tokiko's house and tell Kamui to protect the Holy Sword. Until Karen finishes this task, she will continue to feel uneasy. She makes quite an impression on the two since she was wearing lingerie. Karen is often seen in lingerie because of her work. She does dress rather well when she decides to cover herself. ^^
Karen is Christian (or Catholic?) and her mom was very dedicated to the religion. This ties in with Karen's sad childhood because Karen's mother thought Karen was a demon due to her ability to control fire. The only thing that saved Karen from her mother's abuse was the fact that neighbours had called the police. They took Karen to the hospital but when her mom tried to stop them, a car ran the mother over. After this, Karen believed that no one would cry for her if she died. A reminder of her childhood is her teddy bear which has a little inscription on its foot.
So far, Karen has battled Nataku and Yuuto. Before this battle, Karen had invited Seiichirou to her appartment. There she told him that she would be the next to battle because no one would cry for her. She had then drugged Seiichirou's tea in order to prevent him from stopping her. Karen won easily against Nataku but in the process, Karen saw Nataku as an innocent, naive child. Afterwards Yuuto came and the battle was very even. Seiichirou, who was fighting the effects of the drug, came and this ended the battle (in a draw). Seiichirou told that Karen should never have that sort of mind set because if Karen died, he would feel remorse for her. After this, Karen starts to see Seiichirou in a new light and the two become fairly close. Karen does care for Seiichirou deeply (as Fuuma had confirmed: Karen thinks about Seiichirou the most), but will most likely not do anything about it as Seiichirou already has a family.
Karen is not often seen in the series due to her work. The same goes for Seiichirou. In fact, these two have met before where Seiichirou went to Flower for an interview.^^
