Humans evolved their form of consiousness under conditions that made it impossible to be aware that the human brain is a source of that consciousness. Neurobiology is now attempting to reveal the details of how a brain generates what we experience as mind. Will there be anything left over? Is there any part of human consciousness that goes beyond the brain? Or are all human ideas of a non-physical soul the invention of human minds?
