1 3/4" Ball shells

Here is another project which I have only just recently started doing. I make these shells with a golf ball as the case former. i found out about it on a site somewhere. I cant remember what it was right now. I don't show how to make the case but I show how to construct the shell. Here we go

Start by filling the shell with stars such as it is shown to the left. try to get the stars as flush with the top as possible as it makes closing the shell easier. Im using a charcoal based star mix like always.

Now put a piece of tissue paper into the stars without knocking any of them down, then fill it with your break charge. Im using pulverone with a "garnishment" of 4Fg goex black powder. Its not the best but it seems to work ok.

Do this to both halves of the shell

Then put them together. You can either close them really quickly or you could just put a piece of paper on top of one half, flip it over and place it on top of the other half then pull the paper out. once it is closed I get a strip of pasted paper and run it around the crack. I then spike it (only one way) then add a couple layers of craft.

You may have noticed I don't have any fuse in any of the pictures, this is because its only a quick demonstration so I can take photos of it (also notice majority of the pictures on my site are taken next to my keyboard) I don't recommend the manufacture of fireworks in front of your computer. or in the house for that matter. anyway back to the fireworks.

This is how many stars it took to fill the shell

Once the shell has dried, add a lift cup and the desired amount of lift, I use 5g of pulverone and 2g of 4F goex BP and a delay of 2.5-3 seconds

Enjoy!
