PECK POLYMERS

MINI BELL

These are photos recently taken of my Peck Polymers © Mini Bell in flight. A friend of mine took these photos of the model while doing short hops in front of his house. The steerable nose wheel proved to be very responsive.

Top speed is reached quickly during takeoff. The plane climbs well with a fresh charge. The power system proved to be just adequate for level flight, thus it is not aerobatic. The plane likes just to fly around without much intervention from the pilot. Loops have been impossible and rolls are more like wing-overs. Wind is its biggest enemy, anything more than a slight breeze takes a toll on its flying ability.

The change from Nicad to NiMH greatly improved the flight duration. Flights of 6 to 7 minutes are routine now. The 6 cell 150 mAh Nicad batteries purchased with the Wattage Lite-Stick did not have the extra punch needed. With 8 NiMH cells the GWS DXA motor performs well. The casing barely gets warm. So far the brushes have not been damaged. The motor probably would be damage if powered by 8 Nicad cells.
