The Punkin will take off with ease from a smooth surface. It climbs with authority at full throttle. The best flight so far lasted 17 minutes at 2/3 throttle. After much experimentation, I have found that the GWS 9X7 propeller provides with the most thrust when using the GWS DXA motor. It is quite fast when powered by an 8-cell 300 mAh NiMh battery.
A bit of down trim is required to maintain straight and level flight. In the future I might consider adding a flat bottom airfoil or some positive incidence to the stabilizer. Although the controls are quite sensitive, rolls and loops are not very symmetrical. Probably I added too much right or down thrust when installing the motor mount.
Although it is not very aerobatic it is a lot of fun to fly. It can be flown in very confined spaces even at this size. Things happen a lot faster but its perfect for the local park.
