Matthew 1: 1-6
We have been taught for years that Christmas is a time for giving. We say that Jesus is the reason for the season; and this is true. Today I would like to share something that was revealed to me by the Spirit of God. The Spirit opened my eyes to see the birth of Christ as a time for forgiving as well. As you read about the birth of our Lord in the book of Matthew it starts out with His genealogy. As I read the first 6 verses certain names stood out. The first name that caught my attention was Abraham, you know the man who gave his wife away to save his life (forgiven). The second name that caught my attention was Jacob, you know the trickster, the man that hated his wife and love her sister (forgiven). The third and fourth I will have to mention together because their sins brought them together. Their names are Judah and Tamar. Judah went looking for a harlot and Tamar his daughter in law found out and went and met him on the road dress up like a harlot. They came together and she had two sons by him (both were forgiven). The fifth name is Rahab the prostitute (forgiven). The sixth and seventh names are David the king and the woman only list as the wife of Uriah. Their story goes like this; David the king saw her, desired her, and had her, she was found with child. When David could convince her husband to be with her to cover his sin he had him murder (both were forgiven). Here is the message; every family has what we call the black sheep of the family, this Christmas lets not only give them a gift but lets add them once again into the family. As you talk about the family and you celebrate include them. May God bless you and bring healing to your family.
