Appearance - Kary is stick-thin, with large eyes (brown) and long red hair. She wears whatever comes to hand, mainly her brother's old clothes, without too much regard for whether it looks good or not. Unlike some girls, she doesn't much care what boys think of her.
Personality - She's very very smart, but not always wise when it comes to choosing her words. It's hard to stay angry with her for long, though--Kary is naturally friendly, not to mention she often forgets whatever caused the disagreement within a few days, and who could stay mad at her then? She's rather sensitive, but her being a total ditz comes to her aid here, too, since she'll get distracted halfway through a sulk and wander off to go hunt mandie eggs along the beach. Despite this, she's got a fair bit of potential to Bond--though she has no mandies of her own (yet!), she shows a surprising ability for understanding others' flits and, to some extent, their dragons.
History - The Marshlens' mother is the Headwoman of Weira Maleka's old Weir, and a good friend of hers, and when she asked Maleka to consider the two as Candidates, the Weira readily agreed. Kary, already used to Weir life, adapted quickly to her new surroundings, and has been thoroughly enjoying the weirling lessons. She spends her spare time discussing dragon flight mechanics with a few other weirlings and candidates who're as crazy-smart as she is, betting on flights (and winning!), and hunting for mandie eggs on the edge of the Weir's lake.

Appearance - Unlike his sister, Paolon pays very close attention to what he wears. He thinks he's pretty hot stuff, and will go out of his way to try to prove it. If this means forgoing an actually warm coat in winter, well, so be it.
Personality - Paolon is, in a word, superficial. He might actually start to care about things other than his appearance in another year or so, but even then he'll go with the crowd. For the next ten years or so, his list of interests will most likely be restricted to: himself, his clothes, his hair, runner races, girls, dragons, and loud music.
History - Unlike Kary, Paolon hated moving to Dasmalenra. All his friends are back home, along with his gitar (not Harper-quality, but far from prentice-made), his dog, his girlfriend, and the mandie egg he had to hand off to a buddy because he couldn't take it with him. If he'd arrived at the Weir only a little earlier, it's likely that he'd have been sent offworld with the kids who set off the Year's End fireworks display. But with B'nu planning a massive draconic... love-fest... it looks like Dasma'll be needing all the candidates it's got.
