1.Remember the human -You should keep in mind that you are communicating with real people not just with computer. Everyone has emotions so if you act without any respect their rights, you wouldn¡¯t be respected by others too. 2. Adhere to the same standards of behaviour on-line that you follow in real life. -Do not think it is o.k no matter what you write on internet just because you are in cyberspace. Supposing that nobody won¡¯t know about you is very serious problem. If it is inappropriate or illegal in real life, it is the same in the cyberspace too. 3. Respect other people's time and bandwidth. -Think that this is really necessary and there is any waste space when you write an E=mail or put something up on the Internet. Since internet is used not by only you but also a lot of people, we should consider their situation. It is a waste of bandwidth to send a message to 500 people when there may be only a couple of you interested. Before you post make sure that you have a clear idea of who is going to be interested and make sure that you send it to the appropriate place. [ Bandwidth ]is the information carrying capacity of the cables and wires that connect computers together. Even the most high tech cables have a limit to the amount of information they can carry, so you need to remember that there are physical limits to cyberspace. As a responsible netizen it is part of the deal that you make an effort not to waste bandwidth. 4. Make yourself look good on-line. - Through the net, you can meet hundreds of or thousand of people. They don¡¯t even know about you. So try to keep the message or writing neat and clear. Sending a badly spelled, grammatically incorrect, thoughtlessly put together e-mail message is one of easiest way to screw up your image. 5. Be forgiving of other people's mistakes. -Nobody is perfect. If you tell people they have made a spelling error, or a minor error of netiquette, you just would spend your precious time. But if someone make big mistake related to good sources or information, leave a gentle note in private. It is much more effective. |
