The Michigan Humane Society Vs. Pitbulls
Sombody Here Needs You...Unless they're a pitbull. If they're a pitbull, then it's too late because we've already euthanized them.

The Michigan Humane Society does not adopt out Pitbulls. Regardless of health or temperment, if a pitbull is "rescued" by the MHS, it will be euthanized. No exceptions are made that we know of, unless an owner comes forward with the proper paperwork. If the dog has been abandoned, it is out of luck.

While MPAG applauds the MHS for its efforts to end animal abuse and give
most animals good homes, we cannot endorse, support, or even tolerate their current policies since they include the automatic destruction of any pitbull that might be unlucky enough to fall into their hands.

We do not want to interfere with the good work that the MHS is doing with most of the animal community. We do understand their cautious attitudes towards adopting out pitbulls. But we also want the MHS to reevaluate its pitbull policy. We think it is too harsh and too indiscriminate.

Please join the fight to convince the MHS to re-evaluate its pitbull policy. Write them an e-mail, give them a call, or even visit one of their offices. If we all speak up we can make a difference! Their contact information can be found at their website,
