The MPAG is a group of local pitbull enthusiasts from the Metro Detroit area.
All of the members of this group have owned putbulls and know the breed well.
We are a privately funded, non-profit organization. The work we do through this website and out in the community is purely out of love for the pitbull breed.
The MPAG was founded on the idea that if accurate information was presented to
the public, the unfair stereotypes that
surround pitbulls would be defeated..
This is not an overnight project, but rather
a long-term goal.
Detroit, Michigan has a serious pitbull fighting problem. Hundreds of fighting rings are being operated in the city, despite the efforts of local law enforcement and animal rights groups.
Because of these pitbull fighting rings there is a huge stigma surrounding the pitbull breed. They are viewed as wild, dangerous animals. Many would like to see them banned or even eradicated.
Our ultimate goal is to educate these people as to the realities of the pitbull breed. Another goal is to promote the responsible ownership of pitbulls. Once people learn to respect and take good care of their pitbulls, the reputation of the the breed will improve.
The fate of the pitbull breed is yet undecided. Together we will strive to present a positive image of pitbulls and fight negative stereotypes to secure their future.
