Character Info
Name: A'mur
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Birthday: 12.4.1268
Birthplace: Keroon Hold
Location: Mirror Lake Weyr
Occupation/Rank: Weyrling/Sr. Apprentice Artist
Physical Description
Standing at 5'10", A'mur is about average weight for a boy his size. His build tends towards athletic rather than muscle-bound, and as such he has a pleasantly sleek, trim physique, with well defined musculature that compliments his appearance rather than dominating it. His skin is naturally copper-toned, and his hair and eyes are both near-black in color. Anmur's hair is thick and soft, with a slight natural wave to it, and he keeps it cut moderately short. His dark eyes are framed by a set of thick lashes, and they have a deep, smoldering quality about them that people often find either fascinating or unsettling.
Personality
A'mur tends to be rather aloof and cagey. He is extremely distrustful of people he doesn't know (sometimes even those he does), and is not likely to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. In spite of the changes to his lifestyle and position in society, he still tends to unconsciously view situations from the perspective of his own survival.
Naturally rebellious and extremely curious about everything around him, A'mur has a habit of getting himself into trouble. If you tell him he's not allowed somewhere, he'll probably try to go there. He's never done anyone any real harm, but as a child he often had to steal to survive, and as a result he's gotten extremely good at sneaking around and being unobtrusive.
A'mur hates being told what to do, but over the years he's gotten better at learning to listen to the advice of others (even if he does take it with a grain of salt), and if someone can earn his respect, he can be a great deal easier to deal with. Teachers with the right approach find him to be a surprisingly dedicated student, and friends who manage to chip through his defenses will see a side of him that is intensely loyal, protective, and even empathetic. Given the chance, he can be quite a good listener.
Moody sometimes to a fault, A'mur's icy prickliness often disguises the reality of an extremely sensitive boy with a very deep capacity for intense emotions. It is this quality which can both attract people and frighten them away. It's also part of the reason that he is such a wonderful artist.
Background History
A'mur's mother was a concubine of the Lord Holder of Keroon. After giving birth to her son (then named Anmur), she and the other concubines (the Holder was particularly prone to collecting women) raised him and did their best to shelter him from some of the less pleasant realities of their lives. Unfortunately, this wasn't always possible, and the little boy saw a few things he shouldn't have had to see.
When Anmur was eight years old, the Holder's eldest son died of illness. In spite of being illegitimate, Anmur was still technically the son of the Lord Holder, and he was now the eldest son. So to take care of the problem he represented, the Holder's advisors sent Anmur and his mother to Igen Hold and never told anyone of the boy's existance. Once settled in at Igen, things started to go very badly for the two. His mother, being a stranger and lacking any real employable skills, eventually had to settle for life as a drudge. The harsh lifestyle proved to be too much on her fragile constitution, and she died a year after their arrival. Anmur spent the next five years surviving on his own, working as a drudge and fighting for table scraps. During that time, he began drawing as a sort of escape. He stole anything he could find that he could use to draw on, and it became the one thing in his life that he really enjoyed.
One day when Anmur was fourteen, he was sitting on the side of a street, drawing an old woman asleep against the side of a building, when a visiting painter happened to wander by and notice what he was doing. The painter asked to look at the drawing, and apparently thought he saw some talent, because he asked Anmur to return to the artist crafthall with him. The boy was skeptical, but he figured he didn't have anything to lose, and when he got to the crafthall, he was (albeit a little grudgingly) accepted as a student.
Anmur had a difficult time at the crafthall during his first year, as he did not get along very well with the other students or his teachers, but he threw himself into his art and as time went on he gradually adjusted to craft life and people found him less difficult to deal with. Another year went by before a searchrider came looking for candidates for Mirror Lake's newest clutch. The dragon immediately picked out Anmur, and although the rider was hesitant about the choice, he brought Anmur back to the Weyr with them to stand as a candidate. That was when the boy's life changed again. To his surprised delight, he impressed Brown Sidrith his first time on the sands and became a dragonrider.

Dragon Info
Name: Sidrith
Color: Brown
Age: Hatchling (4.20.1286)
Description
Sidrith's hide is a deep, murky shade of brown, like the color of dark, tarry mud. At times it almost appears black, but shimmers chocolate tones when the light hits it properly. A medium-sized brown, he is of a more graceful, agile build than many other of the larger colors. In addition, his sharp, angular features give him an almost sinister appearance.
His personality, however, is far from sinister. He does tend towards catlike aloofness, and is known to be rather quiet and reserved, but once he decides that he likes someone, he can be extremely gentle and caring. This is particularly true when it comes to his rider, whom he is extremely attached to. As far as Sidrith is concerned, A'mur can do no wrong.
