Physical Description

Standing 5'6" with a slim physique, Finn is rather small for his age. His overall appearance is attractive, if a bit boyish, with wide, angelic blue eyes and short, curly blond hair. His movements possess an effortless grace and occasionally a bit of childlike exuberance. Finn's preferred clothes are generally colorful and unrestrictive. He enjoys being fashionable, but comfort is equally important.

Personality

Finn has always been a dreamer. Sensitive and idealistic, he hates violence and cruelty, and is always out to make the world a better place. He's one of those people who, when not busy with anything, is likely to be staring off into the clouds and daydreaming. His great imagination comes in handy for someone in his craft, and there's nothing he loves more than learning, composing and playing music. He tends to be a bit of a romantic, which has gotten him into trouble in the past, but there is also somewhat of a bitter streak buried down beneath his usually pleasant and charming demeanor. He's easily hurt, and painful experiences have cut him deeply.

Background History

Finn was the third child in a family of fishermen from Ista Hold. His family was not rich, but they did well enough for themselves due to his father's skill in the craft. Both of Finn's parents came from a long line of fishermen, and it was expected of him and his siblings that they too would learn the craft, but as Finn grew older, it became apparent that his heart was simply not in it. However, it did become clear at an early age that Finn possessed a great deal of musical talent, and in spite of his father's disapproval, his mother sent him off to learn at the harper crafthall when he was 12.

Finn's talent and personality blossomed in the crafthall. He was well liked and excelled quickly through the ranks, but in spite of his achievements he was never able to gain the approval of the one person who mattered most: his father. Later, when his family discovered that he'd been in a relationship with another boy at the crafthall, Finn's relationship with his father went from bad to worse, and the two of them are now barely on speaking terms. He still visits his family when he can, and has a good relationship with his mother and some of his siblings (particularly his youngest sister, whom he adores), but he's had to come to terms with the fact that he'll never receive the approval from his father that he so badly wants.

After walking the tables to become a Journeyman, Finn recieved his first outside assignment as a harper at Mirror Lake Weyr.
