Character Info

Name: Giaeli
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Birthday: 7.6.1266
Birthplace: Igen Weyr
Location: Mirror Lake Weyr
Occupation/Rank: Weyrling Goldrider

Physical Description

Giaeli has deep brown-black hair, cropped short around a small face with a pixie's delicate features. Her skin is dark, a slight copper tone belaying her ancient heritage. She has dark eyes to match, and tends to dress in darker earth tones to flatter her complexion.

She's mostly slender, with soft curves in the places they should be, but nowhere near voluptuous. Average really, especially considering her height and weight... Giaeli stands at a fairly tall 5'8, weighing about 140, though she'll never really tell.

Personality

Giaeli's not necessarily a troublemaker, she just likes to question authority. Coming from the background she does, it just comes naturally to her, since everyone around her just tended to take the easy road and be a follower.

She loves conflict, but not the messy version. Debate, even somewhat loud discussion, is her forte, whereas outright arguing just irks her. It also tends to raise her temper, which is something she hates about herself. It can be ugly, to say the least.

Despite her temperament, Giae (pronounced Jay) is surprisingly introspective and thoughful, but then again perhaps not - where would all her arguments come from if she wasn't thinking about what to question? She also has a deep-seated need for respect and affection because of her upbringing.

Background History

Giaeli was born at Igen Weyr, a flight-baby born to a bed-hopping greenrider. When the Weyrwoman found out that Laeli was going to abort yet another pregnancy, she grounded the woman and forced her to keep the babe before she caused herself physical harm from so many abortions.

As soon as she could, Laeli gave the baby up to a foster mother, Arlise. Unfortunately, one who really wasn't suited to her position, but was technically proficient at caring for children. She'd failed at every other job the Headwoman had set her to, and while she didn't have the heart to be a good mother, she was efficient and didn't complain.

Giaeli, in her care, grew, and grew well, but without affection and a caring parental figure. As she got older, she noted things that just didn't seem right to her mind, and without a parent to ask her questions to, she tended to ask the people in charge. It created quite a stir, and when Arlise was unable to keep her young charge's tongue in check, Giaeli was put in the care of the Candidatemaster.

Since she was close enough to her 13th birthingday to begin classes, she threw herself into that, and trying to Impress a dragon of her own, thinking that would get her out from under everyone's thumbs. When the turns passed and she still didn't find a lifemate, she considered finding another vocation.

However, she was talking to one of her older friends, who was ready to transfer to another weyr - Mirror Lake. A few short days later. she had made her arrangements. With barely a backward glance, she transferred, thinking the dragon for her just wasn't waiting back at home.

Dragon Info

Name: Zelisseth
Color: Gold
Age: Hatchling (4.20.1286)

Description

For all that she is a queen, Zelisseth is a blocky bit of a dragonet right now. Her parts are all well proportioned, but just seem badly made and rather angular for a creature who is destined to be so graceful in flight. It is widely suspected that this is a sign that she will be a very large queen when she reaches her full growth, despite being smaller than average right now. Her hide is that of rich clover honey, a slight hint of red giving the color depth and an interesting note.

Zelisseth is a confident young thing, sure in her position and that she is going to be the 'Greatest Dragon Ever!' She is young and hasn't had that optimism beaten out of her yet by the truth of the world. Totally in love with her rider, Zel believes everyone loves Giaeli just as much as she does. She also doesn't understand why her rider would rather stay out of the limelight. It is ingrained into her personality to want attention and is resisting Giae's efforts to be a power behind the scenes rather than in your face like most goldriders.
