Physical Description

Heira isn't known as a beauty but she's no hag either. Her ringlets of curly earth brown hair fall to her shoulders and a few always manage to get into her soft featured oval face. Two stubborn strands almost always get into her light green eyes and she can be send often pushing them out of her way. Sometimes her hair gets to be too much and she ties it back, revealing a slender neck and several scars on the left side that lead right up into the hairline behind her ear. Slender is probably the last word used to describe her body type. Turns of up and down a dragon’s back and her own habit of working off excess energy has put more than a few noticeable muscles on what may have been a slight frame. She dresses to emphasize the few curves she's got left. Her clothes are usually bright colors that bring out her very creamy skin and light eyes.

Personality

There are two sides to this young woman. The first is the one that most of the world sees most of the time. She's laid back, very friendly, and relaxed. Nothing much can bother her and stress? She's never even heard of the word. Typically she's described as lazy but oddly enough her work is always done and she does well in almost all of her drills. Very few are privileged to figure out how she does it. In truth Heira is very much her mother's, Cohera's, child. Her mother is a stressed woman but she enjoys and even thrives on it. Sadly, while Heira inherited her mother's drive and work-ethnic, she did not get the ability to deal with stress. Instead things build up and, in private, she becomes a ball of anxious tension. To work this out, she runs. Every morning before the Rukbat is even up; she does at least a few dragonlengths. Sometimes her dragon flies over her head as she runs. Other times Rhysth wakes up long enough to tell her rider to be careful and goes back to sleep. Times when Heira is unable to run are very clearly defined. Those days she is usually a touch snappish and keen on seeing things get done!

Background History

Heira was born to Cohera and Demathi in the Healer Hall of Fort Hold. The pair already had three children and Heira was to be their last. As the youngest child, she was spoiled rotten for the first three turns of her life. During this time she got very attached to her father Demathi as her mother was often away at the Hall working towards her Sr. Journeywoman-hood. It wasn't until Demathi fell ill suddenly and died that Heira had a chance to really get to know her mother.

The next three turns were rather lonely for Heira. She was one of few children in the Hall and it always seemed her mother was to busy to lavish the attention on her that her father had previously. She was always a ball of energy and the lack of adult attention often meant that she was not allowed to run around as much as she needed to. Fights often erupted between the young girl and her siblings. Mathe, the oldest, was going through a rebellious phase. Dalei, the next oldest, was to busy learning the art of wooing boys to bother with her baby sister's fits for attention. Rei, the next youngest before Heira, was a little bit better. The two were only separated by three turns and thus hung out together often. But slowly even Rei lost the time for her little sister and began to get annoyed with her. Then, just as Heira was driving most of the nannies up the walls, Mathe was Searched. Heira never quite got what was happening but five months after her brother Impressed, her mother married and the remainder of the little family shifted to Fort Weyr. Heira was the most standoffish about her new father. Camin, the man her mother married, had to work hard to gain the little girl's approval but his very happy go lucky nature finally won her over. And just in time too, Cohera gave birth to a little girl and Heira was suddenly thrust into the position of big sister.

Conflicts arouse as the six nearly seven turn old tried to deal with not being the center of attention just after she had got it back. Finally, after one too many fits, Cohera took Heira to a MindHealer. The healer very quickly decided that Heira needed stress relief and something to work off her nervous energy. It took several tries to find something that worked for her but finally she settled into going on morning runs with Camin. The two became closer and life settled into an easy pattern for Heira. Then, when she turned ten, something horrible happened. Heira was playing as she always did with the other weyrbrats. A little boy, the bully of the group, pushed her backward off the rock they were playing on. She landed on sharp rocks in such a way as to cut her neck from her shoulder right up into her hairline. She slept for nearly a day and the healers, including her mother, worked on her wound. Luckily the deep gash had missed all the major veins and muscle groups but it would leave a permanent scar on that side of her neck. Four turns of life later and Heira was beginning to search for her place in the Weyr. Then a Weyr came and Searched her! She was visiting with her aunt Corica, a greenrider of Ista Weyr, when a friend of her aunt's came running up. The young man demanded that Heira come outside and see his dragon. And so she did and the blue promptly, and apparently passionately if his rider was telling the truth, said she would make a good candidate. So she was asked to stand for the next clutch. She readily agreed and slipped into candidate life with vigor. She threw herself into candidatehood with high expectations. Very quickly she discovered that it wasn't that hard. Her morning runs had given her stamina and adding in things like firestone stacking just gave her the strength to back it up. Sadly she also learned that it was easy to be scorned for doing to well. She was nicknamed 'the Weyrlingmaster's firelizard' and teased endlessly. She finally gave up doing well in candidate lessons and only did the minimal amount of chores required. She also learned to rein in her overly bubbly personality and very optimistic views.

Hatching day finally came just as her mother was in for a visit. Heira was rushed on the sands with the other candidates as the eggs began to hatch. Two-twenty pairs of dragons and weyrlings later, a tiny pale green dragonet knocked one of her larger brown brothers aside and proclaimed Heira as her own. So Heira and Rhysth stepped into weyrlinghood. Rhysth was a bright and proud dragon. Her memory of events may not last past the last month or so but give her a number to remember and she'd be repeating it randomly for months to come. Her bold prideful nature often lead to mistakes and missteps. The green had no restraint when it came to getting what she wanted and she caused Heira more than a few days of latrine duty. Heira took it in relative stride and learned to recognize and control her dragon's completely innocent but rather destructive behaviors. Finally the two full turns of weyrlinghood came to an end and the pair were thrust into the same wing as Heira's aging aunt. Just three turns into her new life as a rider, the news came from Fort Weyr that Camin had died. Heira rushed to her mother's side and helped the older woman pick up the pieces of her life once more. She also helped when her mother decided to move out of Fort Weyr. Her mother moved to Ista Weyr along with Heira's two younger sisters, now aged 13 and 12. For a turn, she let her mother mope around. She thought that the strong stressed Cohera she knew would soon snap herself out of it. When her mother seemed to be taking a turn towards even more moping, Heira ganged together with her siblings to cheer her up. It took some doing but Cohera seemed to snap out of it with all six of her children visiting regularly and telling her to cheer up.

Another turn passed Heira decided that maybe her mother needed a change of scenery to help her shake off the last of it. Her two youngest siblings were old enough and out on their own. Cohera's work at Ista Weyr was coming to a close. It was a good time and, with a touch of help from her brother A'the and his two children, Heira convinced her mother to move to Mirror Lake Weyr. What she didn’t tell A'the and her mother was that she too had plans to move to Mirror Lake Weyr but her transfer hadn't come through when she moved her mother in. A day later, it came in and she packed up her dragon and herself and took off.

Dragon Info

Name: Rhysth
Color: Green
Age: 7

Description

Rhysth has always been on the short chubby side of the green dragon spectrum. Rhys, as she had been nicknamed by her rider, is a smaller green then most and very filled out. In fact it's gotten to the point once or twice where people have accused Heira of letting her eat too much. But these days Rhysth stays within more manageable size ranges. Coloration wise, she is as pale a green as can be had without actually being white. She has some other shades on her body. She has pastel green, a shade darker than her base color, all over. The way the pattern is along her body hints slightly at a forest glen dappled with shade trees.

Rhysth is a very bold and brazen personality. She speaks her mind to any dragon that is willing to listen and boasts regularly about her and her rider's prowess in the skies and other places. She's got quite the ego for a dragon who really can't remember much that often. When it comes to events, she's lucky to remember it a week. Sometimes sharp events, things firmly set into her rider's mind, stick longer but usually she forgets pretty quickly. She's got a rather strange point to her memory though; give her a number and she'll be randomly repeating it (and not knowing why) for months. Other then that, she's a bit of a flirt with a special soft spot for browns. Occasionally she'll try and pressure her rider into getting with another rider so that she can spend more time with a male dragon but often enough she simply forgets him after a time.
