Character Info
Name: N'tzin
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Birthday: 2.27.1261
Birthplace: A Minor Holding inside Igen Territory
Location: Mirror Lake Weyr
Occupation/Rank: Brownrider
Physical Description
N'tzin stands approximately 5'10 and has the "average" dragonrider build. That is to say, he's not overweight, but not extremely buff either. He is in shape and his calves are fairly muscled from his years apprenticing with the runners, and has kept them with the dragonriding. He also has very strong hands from his apprentice years, and though he has lost some of it since he Impressed, there is still a lot of strength there.
His hair is sandy brown and kept rather short. He has a "bald patch" behind his left ear where hair does not grow thanks to a childhood scar. This patch is quite noticeable, but N'tzin could care less.
N'tzin's eyes are light brown in colour and just slightly wideset on his face. His nose is short, but the tip points just a little bit. One thing is for certain, this brownrider is definitely not gorgeous, but he does look fairly good.
His preferred colours to wear are black and various shades of grey. It is not often that he would wear bright colours as he feels that those colours are for women.
N'tzin speaks in the tenor range and has no ear for music at all. Once in a while, his wingmates get him to sing just for the laugh as N'tzin is tonedeaf in the worst way. While many can sing along with melodies but off-key, N'tzin cannot even manage that.
Personality
One thing can be said about N'tzin and that he is lazy - not when it comes to his dragon, or his work, but when it comes to anything else. Both as an apprentice and a weyrling he tried to shirk out of doing any chores though he got caught more often than not. Even now his dragon and gear is kept meticulous, but his quarters are a disaster area because he is too lazy to clean.
N'tzin is, however, somewhat outgoing though he is fairly quiet. He enjoys being the center of attention, but does not need to be. He loves being in a group, and though at times he is mistaken to be shy, he is often just waiting for the right time to come in with a quip or pearl of wisdom.
When it comes to women, N'tzin turns incredibly shy. In group situations, he focuses on the other men in the group, shying away from the women. When he does talk to a woman, he often ends up stuttering or stammering, though even he doesnt understand why. Afterwards, he is always berating himself for making such a fool of himself, but he just can't seem to get over this. The only female he has ever been able to speak around was the one greenrider back at Igen Weyr.
Background History
Natzin was born to Adzin and Nattie in one of the Holds inside Igen Territory. He was the first of five children, all male. As Adzin was sure that all of his sons would follow in his footsteps, he started them working with runners early. From the time when Natzin began to walk, his father would take him down to the stables and let the boy toddle around the stalls, sure that he would stay out of trouble - which Natzin rarely did.
Luckily for Natzin, he did show an aptitude for the runners and by the age of 7 he was able to ride even the rougher stallions, though he was always under the watchful eye of Adzin in case something ever happened and the runner got out of Natzin's control. As a beastcrafter, Adzin soon had Natzin involved in all aspects of the beastcraft in their locale and apprenticed him to the craft. His other sons would end up involved as well as they each grew old enough.
At the age of 15, right before Natzin was to make a trip to another hold with his father and 2 of his brothers, a bluerider appeared at their hold. Natzin had not seen a dragon up close, and he and his brothers all went to have a look. Soon the boys were daring each other to go up to the dragon and touch him. The second eldest managed to do it, Natzin did not have the courage to do it. Imagine his surprise when the bluerider announced that Natzin was being Searched!!! Adzin was less than pleased, but Nattie was thrilled and begged Adzin to let his eldest go to Igen Weyr. As it turned out, Natzin left less than a candlemark later.
At the Hatching, Natzin watched all the other candidates pair off with a dragon and was sure that he would be left standing on the sands when he heard a croon. Looking across the Hatching Cavern, he saw a brown dragon trying to walk, but his wing was underneath his claws, so every time the dragon took a step, it hurt. Natzin looked with pity at this dragon until he heard a "help me N'tzin!" inside his head. He had Impressed the brown dragon, Xandroth!
His time as a weyrling seemed to drag on forever. While he was very careful about his care for Xandroth, he was always getting into trouble for ducking out of chores or talking his fellow weyrlings into doing them for him. He did finally manage to make it through weyrlinghood and into a fighting wing.
Once in the fighting wing, he excelled. His chores lessened and he had more time to himself and was treated more as an adult than a child. N'tzin was then able to shine. When others stopped “breathing down his back†he took initiative and really showed the wingleaders what he could do. Though he was young, they marked him for future leadership.
Then Xandroth won a mating flight. It was with a young greenrider, Daeleen, and both naively thought that they were in love and N'tzin moved into her weyr. It was a most spectacular relationship. Their fights could be heard throughout the Weyr, but their relationship was intense and passionate. Stories flew around the Weyr about them, the weyrharper made them subjects of limericks, and it was always subject to gossip. Two turns later, when N'tzin was 18 Turns, they had a most ostentatious fight and that night N'tzin moved out into quarters of his own. More fun was made at their breakup and soon N'tzin could no longer take it. He asked for a transfer.
As the Weyrleader and wingleaders had marked him for leadership, they took his request seriously and then decided he might try his luck at Mirror Lake Weyr. It was smaller than Igen and he might be able to reach a leadership role earlier than he would at Igen. The farewell to Igen was tough, Nt'zin had made many friends, and he kept in touch with many of them. The most remarkable part of the farewell was Daeleen. To show that there were no real hard feelings, she had searched high and low and presented N'tzin with a parting gift - a firelizard egg.
N'tzin's parents were upset that when the brownrider told them that he was transferring to Mirror Lake as it was even farther away, but the brownrider told them that he would visit often. Which he does try to do when he has some time off from his other duties.
It was two weeks later, when N'tzin had somewhat settled into his new Weyr and new life that the firelizard egg began to rock. The man quickly dashed to the kitchens to grab some meat as he was unprepared and returned to his quarters just in time to see a green wingtip break through the hard shell and move towards the edge of the hearth. He was encouraged quickly by Xandroth to feed her. Though it seemed like a long time, it was only moments before she gave a burp of satisfaction when she finished eating and fell asleep in N'tzin's arms. He and Xandroth spent almost a full candlemark debating names before N'tzin gave into Xandroth and named her Ilori.
Knowing the reputation most firelizards had, he trained Ilori the same way that weyrlings trained their dragons, with the obvious differences of flight (firelizards can fly almost right away, whereas most hatchling dragons are still too awkward) and aspects of obedience. Ilori is now a very well trained firelizard.
N'tzin settled in easily to Mirror Lake Weyr's life and politics. He enjoyed the manual labour in making sure all his gear is clean, though without drudges his room generally looked like a tornado had gone through it. It doesn't matter to him though.
He's flying in a wing and has made himself known with the council and still strives for a leadership position, though he is well aware that it may take several more years, and he is patient enough to wait.

Dragon Info
Name: Xandroth (pronounced Zan-droth)
Color: Brown
Age: 9
Description
Xandroth is a dark brown dragon with the usual minor threadscores. The underneath of his left wing, however bears the scars and markings of his Hatching. Though his claws were not completely hardened, he had raked them on the underside of his wing enough to cause some damage and the hatchling spent it's first night being treated by the dragonhealers. It healed nicely, but the markings are there.
Xandroth is of average size for a brown dragon in length and bulk, but his wingspan is longer giving him an almost stunted look. Perhaps this is why he had problems at the hatching with his wings.
Personality-wise, Xandroth is "happy go lucky". Nothing is ever wrong and he is always in a good mood. He is the eternal optimist and chides his rider when N'tzin is in a bad mood. Xandroth doesn't see how anything could possibly go wrong and thinks that N'tzin should see it the same way. Of course, if Xandroth ever did feel that anything had gone wrong, the dragon wouldn't remember it anyways for Xandroth does have a horribly short memory, even for a dragon.
Unlike his rider, Xandroth is a huge flirt. He loves watching the greens, whether they are about to rise or not. He thinks that they are the most gorgeous creatures ever and doesn't see why N'tzin doesn't go for any females himself. Xandroth is sure that he's caught almost every green in the Weyr, except for the fact that he has only ever caught one in a mating flight - again that memory issue.
Firelizard Info
Name: Ilori
Color: Green
Description
Ilori is a dark forest green colour, almost dark enough to seem black in dim lighting or at night. She is most perfectly proportioned and takes great pride in her appearance. She demands daily oilings and attention from anyone who will give it.
She is extremely well trained and always takes messages and returns promptly, unless she is offered a little tidbit from the kitchens. She is usually very quiet, except for when it is time for her to rise to mate. She is very loud and has caught N'tzin offguard with her flights several times. Even at the age of almost 6 Turns, her flights are just as loud as her first.
Unlike most firelizards she does not spend most of her time with N'tzin, though that doesn't make their bond weaker than any other firelizard-human bond. She just prefers the company of Xandroth, who constantly looks out for her. At night she generally sleeps either in the curl of Xandroth's tail or between his neckridges. Of course, that also means she tries to follow N'tzin and Xandroth everywhere - including fighting Thread.
