Physical Description

Sarinon's on the shorter side of average height – she stands at about 5'4'' – and has a small but toned build, with the normal amount of curves for a young woman. Her hair is a haphazard mess of wavy honey-brown curls, and she usually manages to tame it into a ponytail, but sometimes she takes the time to tame it and let it frame her face. Sarinon has hazel eyes, which tend towards a greenish light brown, depending on what she's wearing – green or blue brings out the green in her eyes, neutrals make them look browner. She's got fairly small features, and freckles across the bridge of her nose. She's a pretty girl, but in a very ordinary way. Tended to have a difficult complexion throughout her teens, and is still prone to breakouts when she's stressed. Sarinon's usually clad in cheerful colors: rose-pink, light blue, light green – and almost always has her riding leathers on. She enjoys jewelry, but doesn't have much, except for a few pairs of earrings which she's attached to.

Personality

Sarinon has a strong personality, coming from growing up with four older brothers. She knows how to make herself heard without being obnoxious, which is important when you're dealing with a bunch of newly Impressed teenagers. In her work, she's fairly strict, and has perfected the Look of Authority, a valued tool of both her father and G'lin, which also makes her look older and more authoritative than her years would normally allow. Sari's getting used to her job, and she tends to err on the side of strictness and over-watching, which is entirely natural, and she'll probably grow out of soon. She makes an effort to establish herself as an authority, especially since some of her Weyrlings are only five or six turns younger than she is. Outside of work, however, Sarinon's a whole lot of fun. She's a down to earth weyrbred girl, who doesn't like to be crossed or betrayed. Loyalty is a big thing with Sarinon, both in her personal life and with her Weyrlings. If you come to her with some sob story, and she cuts you slack, and later finds out that it isn't true, you are in trouble. Her temper can be fierce, and she's a very blunt person, so she respects that in others. Sarinon's main fault is that she can come off intimidating, and not appear very sensitive, which can run into problems with her female charges. She's been called a bitch on more than one occasion and it's not entirely undeserved either: if you actually approach her she's pretty nice, but she can come off as harsh. It's her main goal to work on as Weyrlingmaster – not just teaching, but being a true mentor. In her heart of hearts, Sarinon's a bit of a softy. She really loves the kids, and wouldn't hesitate to go to bat for them with anyone else, but she's not going to give them an easy time of it either.

Background History

Sarinon was born in Igen, but only spent about the first turn of her life there. Her father, brownrider T'non, transferred to Mirror Lake when it first opened to act as the Weyrlingmaster, and bought his entire family with him. T'non and Sarella have an unusual relationship for the Weyr, since he's a rider and she's a Lower Caverns worker who have raised their entire family together. Sarinon is the youngest of five, and she grew up weyrbred through and through, the baby of four boys. She had the typical relationship with her brothers: they tormented the life out of her, but they also would beat the shell out of anyone who messed with her. She spent a lot of time with her father growing up, and from a young age was interested in his job, and decided that she too wanted to be a Weyrlingmaster when she got older. Sarinon started Standing Candidate at the traditional age of twelve, at which point her brothers N'rel and S'non had already Impressed, although Tessar was still waiting for his chance to come along. Sarinon was an exemplary Candidate, and Impressed blue Daith at the age of fifteen. Weyrling training was a snap for her – T'non had retired a turn before Sari Impressed, but she still knew almost everything she'd be doing before she'd do it, and, in some cases, had practiced when she was tagging along with Daddy (Her Candidate's robes had been completed in record time). Upon graduation, Sarinon spent about a turn in a regular Wing, until she was tapped by the new Weyrlingmaster, brownrider G'lin, to train as one his assistants when she was eighteen turns. Sarinon was ecstatic, but not surprised: Daith was always a big blue, and she had made it very clear that she was both able and willing to work with Weyrlings. At the age of twenty turns, Sarinon was made an official Weyrlingmaster's Assistant, and was responsible for her first real class of Weyrlings. It was nerve wracking, but she did an excellent job, and has worked with G'lin ever since. However, recently, G'lin suffered an accident on a restday while hiking through some particularly treacherous terrain, and ended up breaking his leg. Already being rather old, he decided to retire, but Sarinon was his only assistant at the time. The Council thought that she was too young to take the job, but she begged and pleaded, citing the fact that she'd been working with G'lin for seven turns at that point, and that she'd been essentially helping out with Weyrling Training since she was little. The Council agreed to give Sarinon a go, but only on a temporary basis, with G'lin still serving as an advisor. She's waiting eagerly for the next class of Weyrlings as a real chance to prove herself.

Description

Daith is very large for blue, as large as most small and medium size browns. His hide is a slate blue color, rather muted, but still attractive, and his features are handsome. He's large enough to give good chase to a lot of greens, which makes Sarinon's life very interesting at times. Personality wise, he's a great dragon for a Weyrlingmaster to have Impressed: he's friendly to the young weyrlings, but he's stern, and entirely supportive of Sarinon. If she says you're spending the day cleaning the middens, don't think Daith's going to give you a break on it. He's very concerned with the safety of the dragonets, and being a blue, he gives absolutely no preference to metallics.

Description

Leaf's a young bronze, about a turn in age. He was a present from G'lin and T'non for Sari's last birthday, since, as they said, a good Weyrlingmaster needs someone to deliver messages for her. They thought they had picked out a brown or blue egg for her, but Sarinon was delighted when it Hatched a bronze, as the metallic firelizards are much more reliable. Leaf's extremely shy, for a young bronze, and spends most of his time curled up on Sarinon's shoulder, hiding in her hair, and she fusses over him just like a baby, to the amusement of most of her Weyrlings.
