One of my goals for 2001 is to participate in the Chicago Marathon. This being a difficult goal to achieve for those that are already in shape, you can imagine the trouble I'll have. But I'm motivated enough, I'm strong enough, and dog-gone-it people like me. Okay, okay - my weak attempt at humor. But, yes I'm motivated enough and I've done plenty of research. I know it's going to be very, VERY hard but I'm willing to give it my all to be there on that day. Even if I don't make the 26.2 miles I'll be proud for getting even halfway through. I'd said I'd start training on January 11, my birthday, but I'm starting now. Well, tomorrow actually. I didn't get up early enough today to go for a quick walk/run. I won't miss my normal step-class this afternoon though so that should count for something. It'll probably be boring to post my training here every day, so I'm going to post only my monthly achievements. Besides, it'll be a little more incentive for me to keep at it if I get e-mails telling me how great I'm doing. Hint, hint. Speaking of posting training results, if you haven't already please check out this guy's webpage about his experience training for a marathon. It's hilarious.
