As my eyes darted back and forth between my cards, the sheet with instructions and the game going on I was surprised I wasn't more lost. Get this....today, for lunch, I learned to play canasta. Seriously.
When my co-workers mentioned it last week I thought I'd give it a go. I didn't know what it was. Being the youngest of the bunch by a lot of years and having a vivid imagination I always thought canasta was a game involving stitching/weaving & baskets for older people who had nothing better to do with their time (fyi - the word canasta means basket in español) . I was quickly informed it was no such thing (after being laughed at, of course). It's a card game, two decks, more depending on the number of players (I think).
I had fun although I didn't know what I was doing. We're getting together again next week to continue my card-playing education. By the by, my partner and I lost the first game but won the second. Beginner's luck they said. Ha!

My training runs are becoming an obsession. I'm scheduling around them now. Ay ay ay, I'm making it sound as though I'm a *real* runner. I'm not. I have a hell-ass long way to go before I can actually run continuously without stopping for a breather, but I've stuck to the program and I'm feeling a-ok. The other thing I've been doing that's very unlike me is getting up in the wee hours of the morning to complete my training for the day. It was surreal today when I walked outside and thanked God because it was at least 30 degrees. Lately that means it's not that cold. Bizarre.
Another obsession with the running is the Kick!Sports site. I check it every single day. It's awesome.
