A Zorro Poem
"A Black Knight of Spanish California"

A Black Knight, am I
In my fatherland
To fight for the cause
Of Justice and Truth.

A Black Knight, am I
Lead by my heart and mind
To fight for my people
Against tyranny and evil men.

A Black Knight, am I
With my only friend, Bernardo
Who can speak no word
In our quest against injustice.

A Black Knight, am I
Riding a black and mighty stallion
Whose heart as big as his frame
As we ride into the night.

A Black Knight, am I
My secret identity protected
Posed as the idle son of my father
And a respected don of the community.

A Black Knight, am I
Not seeking glory or fame
Ride again and again in the night
Until the fight is won.

A Black Knight, was I
Approaching the end
In my strife and life
As Diego de la Vega

A Black Knight, was I
To be remembered by the people
As the infamous outlaw
Whose name was El Zorro.
