Dexter's Page
Dexter was born on September 9th, 2001. When we picked him out he was a cute little five pound fur ball. When we picked him up....another story. Dexter is growing fast. He is very inquisitive and already follow his nose everywhere. He will track us in the house when he is bored. He makes us happy while we are so sad.
After Cosmo died in
October 2001, we knew that we were going to get another pup. We had to
have another dog for all of our love to go to. We new that we weren't
replacing Cosmo, but honoring his memory with another pup. Once again we contacted
Nancy Lane from Lazy Hearts Kennel.
We picked out Dexter at five weeks old. Three weeks later we picked him
up. Kiss wasn't so sure that she liked having this furball around.
She had gotten used to being doted on and being an only 'child.' Dexter
spent his first couple of nights with us sleeping on my chest. (He was
tiny then!) He grew fast! Finally, Kiss warmed up to him and now
they wrestle in the house, in the yard, and maybe in the kennel while we are
working!
At 45 pounds and full of energy, Dexter is a handful! He is a great explorer and a couch hog!
In many picture you will see Dexter in a
harness. This allows him to go outside, unsupervised, for a certain
distance. Our yard isn't fenced yet. Hopefully in the spring of
2003!
Dexter is a master whiner. If he doesn't get what he wants, he whines. But he still doesn't get food from the table. That's not quite true...sometimes he helps himself to stuff from the table and the counters. It's been tough trying to keep 50 pounds of wriggling energy off of everything!
Spring 2002...Dexter is 60 pounds now and has his nose to the ground most of the time. It should be an interesting bird season!
As you can see from the many pictures...Dexter is a poser!
