Logan seeks help from a former Manticore doctor to keep him walking, but the doctor is being tracked by an X5 named Jace who didn't escape with the others...
It seems that Max is increasingly getting a workout these days; after the attack from the Reds, this time she's forced to take on one of her own, and not of the friendly persuasion. The stunts are remarkable as the two fight, with leaps everywhere, and all manner of gymnastic tricks. But the episode remains mainly about Logan and his desperate efforts to keep what he has regained. Although Max stresses to him that his state doesn't matter, Logan refuses to take no for an answer and puts himself in increasing danger.
It's an episode that in the beginning seems to have several plot strands going on, but they weave together a little too quickly and easily to be proper sub-plots. The uncertainty over what Jace will do is carefully fed throughout, leaving the viewers unsure whose side she is on right until the end when there's a spectacular escape. We get a better sense of what Lydecker is like when he shoots Logan's doctor in cold blood when his assassin has failed to do the job, and his single-mindedness looks as thought it is about to be tested with the first appearance soon of his boss.
The only let-down is the ending, where Logan's suicide attempt is stopped in the most ham-fisted way possible. Then again, having Max rush in at the last minute wasn't likely to have any impact on his state of mind, so maybe this was a better approach. On the one hand, it's a shame to put Logan back in his chair. But on the other, it leaves a far greater emotional area to explore.
