Companion protectors turn on their charges when receiving a signla from space, and soon Sandoval is also afflicted and helping the Jaridians to wipe out the Taelons once and for all.
I seem to recall that it wasn't that long ago that the Jaridians were meant to be our best hope to be saved from the evil of the Taelons. Judging by this story, they seem hellbent on destroying that race, swiftly followed by our own, so we'd only be trading one problem for another. Now all the Taelons are awake and running down their energy, it's up to Liam to provide their salvation, and he is the one who must stop Sandoval wiping the race out, as they may be the only hope to save humanity from the Jaridian fleet.
The idea of protectors turning against the Taelons is a good one, with more Taelons being killed and humanity getting a chance to show it can't be pushed around, even though it doesn't realize it's merely being manipulated by another alien force. The dying Taelons arc moves on apace, and Sandoval yet again gets a chance to show his true feelings for the aliens as he is possessed by a Jaridian probe. Taking over the show after a while, there's not much to this idea, but it does enable us to see a little more of Sandoval's less malignant side. There are still some lines he won't cross, and Von Flores plays the scene in which he doesn't know what to do extremely well.
Beyond that, it's another Jaridian invasion that goes nowhere. The aliens don't keep the Taelons for long, and with their slow progress towards Earth, the time of reckoning is obviously way off. What will happen in the season finale may change all that, however...
