The LEXX crew make off with a rocket to return to their ship, taking with them a couple of druids. However, they soon discover that Vlad is loose once again, and none of them are safe.
This episode is awfully reminiscent of season two LEXX, set mainly on the ship and involving visitors being killed by another presence on board. As such it's pretty much the same old story as usual and not really distinguished from many of the others. The return of Vlad is something we could have done without, and she is despatched with relative ease in the end by what appears to be a traditional staking in the heart so let's hope that's the last we'll see of her, as I for one was getting a bit bored by her continuing presence.
The former rock star druid has little to offer save his death and the predicament from last episode is sorted out so easily you wonder why they bothered writing it in in the first place. That said, there are some good points. It's fun to have the confirmation that Mars and Venus have now been blown up by the LEXX, and the shock sudden death of Xev is a big surprise despite hints from the druid, and I have no idea how she can be returned to life when she is very much deceased. The feelings of Stan for her as his friend are good to see and too often ignored, and even a brief new bond between Stan and 790 as the pair realize they have to stick together brings a nice new touch to the series. At the end of the day, though, there simply isn't enough plot to go round here, with too much time spent on investigating the LEXX for two people who aren't about any more and then an extended fight with Vlad that could have been dealt with a lot quicker. They still don't know where the LEXX's key is, though, and there are a couple of other plotlines worth following up but it seems the crew need to be on Earth to really make this season better than average.
