I went exploring in DC again today!  I caught the metro at the College Park Station at 11:15 and didn't get back until 5:45 pm.  In between those times, I walked the entire time.  I don't think I stopped at all.  That's almost 6 hours of walking!  Here's a map of my walking today.  My course is marked by the purple arrows, beginning at the blue circle at the bottom and ending at the red circle at the top.

First I went and walked along the shoreline to the Jefferson Memorial.  I've been to DC several times in my life, but had yet to see this memorial.

Then, I continued on walking on this biking/walking trail that followed along the Potomac river.  Before I got to the Potomac Riverside, I walked along the Tidal Basin shoreline.  There were some good views of the Washington Monument (as well as a few of the pictures of the Jefferson Memorial above) here.

Next, I stopped at the FDR monument, which was also along the trail I was walking.

I continued walking on the path.  Originally I was going to try and cut across the Roosevelt Bridge and go to the Roosevelt Memorial, but I must have missed the bridge.  Somewhere along this long walk, my sandal broke and I was just walking around for the rest of the day with a broken shoe.

I also passed the Watergate Hotel.  (silly little tidbit things that amuse me...)

Next I walked on towards the Washington Harbor, which I soon realized was RIGHT in Georgetown.

Then I decided to walk around Georgetown a while.  I even went and roamed around 'The Shops at Georgetown Park'.

After I made my way through part of Georgetown I moved on and kept walking along the course that the Old Town Trolley Tours Company uses... (I had their map of DC today, so it seemed like a pretty good path to follow).  I walked past Sheridan Circle, which is right at the edge of Embassy Row (that's where all the foreign embassies are).

At some point I passed the Vice President's House, but it was so fenced up and hidden behind trees that you couldn't actually see it.  I kept walking and finally made it to the National Cathedral.

By this point my feet were hurting and I was pretty tired, so I decided to head back towards a metro station... Though the closest metro station was still a good walk away.  I took the Woodly Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan metro.  And finally made it back to my room to take a shower.

This evening I'm going to go find a mall and try and find a new pair of sandals.  :)
