Remember that dish, Pigs in a blanket, link sausage between pancakes? Well this Koi fish skin starts out very much like that. I made the Koi that reminds me of calico cats. White, with coral redish orange and yellow-brown markings. My concern was that I wanted a definate dorsal line and have the spots on the sides only.

We start with the logs of the color of the spots. The coral is a mix of neon pink and then neon yellow. The neon colors are translucent so when you mix them it is nice to maintain that translucent effect. If you want to delute the color add more translucent, not white, white is opaque and that won't let light flow through the fins when we are done.

Roll the logs of coral and wrap them in pearl. Roll the logs of the yellow-brown mixture, which was just chopped up like you'd chop garlic, mixed lightly, then rolled into a log...then wrap that in pearl.

Alternate the logs on a pasta sheet of pearl and cover with another pasta sheet of pearl.
