Challenge
Your First Challenge: this if for all writers and readers out there who might want to try out this plot. Email your submissions to me in an attached doc.file:
I got this idea after reading Herman Melville's Bartleby.
Main characters: a 16-year-old Rin, Sesshomaru, Jaken (other Inuyasha casts are allowed, but please, no original characters.)
Pairing: Rin/Sesshomaru
Genre: Romantic comedy plus one other theme that you pick. Ex: Angst (suggested), adventure/action, fantasy, sci-fi (not suggested, but I can't stop you).
Starting Plot: Rin has been traveling with Sesshomaru and Jaken for years. Naraku has been defeated a while back and Inuyasha and his friends seemed to have disappearedEfrom the world. The Shikon no Tama's been destroyed so it's relatively peaceful, but youkai power has yet to die down. One day, when Rin is bathing in a hot spring in the forest (no one's with her when she's bathing now that she's 16), a witch/youkai/mononoke/whatever-you-want that holds a grudge against Sesshomaru sneaks up on her and puts a curse on her. Because of the curse, Rin can only say "I prefer not to. Everything else about her is fine. She can express her emotions freely through body language, but the only words that she can say is "I prefer not to."
Your challenge: Follow the starting plot giving, write a fic that's at least 10,000 words (it's not as hard as you think). I'll let you guys decide how to write the rest of the fic, but keep in mind that Sesshomaru doesn't know about the curse, but he does think it's weird that Rin can't say anything else. So, how well can you depict Sesshomaru and Jaken's frustration? And how about Rin's own frustration now that she can't say anything else besides "I prefer not toE the phrase is rather negative. And furthermore, how does Sesshomaru's concern for her changes to love? Keep in mind that in the end, it has to be Sess/Rin pairing. Or you might consider that he was in love with her before the curse was cast. And you can have this as a side story and maybe they're in the middle of a quest...
And another thing, if you like the idea of this story and like to post your fic on ff.net while being in the contest at the same time, you must give me credit on each chapter for coming up with the idea and telling your readers that it's part of a contest (BTW, the amount of good reviews you get might influence my judgment). But if I really like it, even if you don't win, I'll post it on this website site. I'd like to read them chapter by chapter. So start sending as you finish a chapter.
Good luck. Hopefully, I'll get a full submission before Easter. And yes, there will be a prize. Like I dunno... posters and mangas and stuff. Oh, and lastly, the spellings have to be good, and it has to be at least 85% grammatically correct. If I'm forced to read fob-ish language throughout the whole thing, I might go nuts and chop someone open. That's all, folks!
To make this site more interesting, I'm putting up a challenge section. Those who want to test the authors' writing/imaginary skills, or is just plain bored and want to read something new and interesting, this is your place.
First you email your idea to the author you want to challenge, set a basic parameter. Or you might want to challenge all the authors, then just email me and I'll send them out. Then if your idea is interesting, I'll put it up here. And if anyone that's passing through want to take up the challenge, you would have to email me and say that you want to try it, and I might make you a permanent member of this site. Sounds good? Confused? Email me for further questions. Now, let the challenges begin!!!
To challenge the writer(s):
+ MizuCrystal: RukawaLover@aol.com
+ Chisuto: rbeam01@earthlink.net
+ Msmelanie: Msmelanie1@hotmail.com
+ Dexter's Sister: memberofdisfunctionalsociety@yahoo.com
Please don't challenge Msmelanie into writing a sequel to The Fuedal Fairy Tale Begins Again.
No need to challenge Dexter's Sister to write the sequel to Inuyasha, The Reincarnation of Midoriko? Because she already has one.
