Skin Installation Page 2 |

The inital stage of the engine cowling. Not part of the UH-19P blueprint. This one is of my own design. I wanted to gain full access to the thrust engine. The 19P plan set has a very short engine cowling, allowing most of the engine exposed to the elements. This cowling will be fully removable. The cowling is really smiple to construct, once you figure out the size and lenght needed to cover the engine. I wanted a sleek look so the cowling has a tapered shape, from fwd to the aft end. The ribs are fabricated from 1/4" ply, with stringers. The stringers are epoxied in placed, and 1/8" ply will be used for the skin. |

As you can see in the pictures above, the engine cowl is installed, and just about complete. I need to cut vent holes, and add thrust duct supports. The craft has one coat of epoxy applied to it. Once I fabricate and install the thrust duct, I'll finish the hull, filling and sanding in preperation for primer and paint. |
