Tarzan
is a buck we acquired from Marvin Shurley. He was not
performance tested at ASU, but Marvin maintains his own weight gain
records. This buck and his 1/2 brothers all gained weight
significantly better than the average for all of Marvin's young bucks.
Tarzan gained 0.788 lbs/day, which was the best of the bucks he didn't send
to the performance tests.
Like our other sires, he was
selected because of his excellent conformation. He stands square on his front and rear legs, is
long, and has a perfect bite. The underside of his tail is jet black,
and his horns are set wide apart. Tarzan is a different type of buck
from our other sires, and strong in some areas that our other sires are not.
Tarzan has an impressive pedigree
that includes Johaan and Krugerand. His genetics are 100% South African. Tarzan died of rumenatony on 08/01/07
after many years of producing quality kids including an ASU Performance Test
Champion, and three consecutive REA Champions. Over the years we have
retained many of this buck's daughters, so his superior genes will continue
to influence our herd for many years to come.
