Child Abuse Allegations In 1993

In August 1993, Michael Jackson's world broke down when Jordan Chandler, 13, accused him of sexual molestation. In less than 24 hours, Jackson became the lead story in over 70 broadcasts, newspapers and magazines in the Los Angeles area alone. The allegations hurt Jackson's public image deeply, and after settling the case outside court, he was publicly condemned. Still, many people believe that he would have been found guilty if the case had ever proceeded to court. But those people do not know much about the case itself - there is more to know than what the papers told the public.

In October 1994, Mary Fischer, a well-known journalist, claimed that she had found a great deal of evidence in support of Jackson's innocence, and published an article that reveals many important things about the case and the Chandler family. I truly recommend reading it, if you want to know anything about the case at all.

WAS MJ FRAMED?

Brief summary:

1. Fischer reveals that Evan Chandler desired financial aid from Jackson, for his new film script. This fact suggests that the case may well have been a planned extortion attempt against Jackson. Moreover, Chandler was probably jealous of Michael because the pop star had become like a father to his son.

2. A recorded telephone conversation between Evan Chandler and Dave Schwartz reveals that Evan had a plan for ruining Jackson's career: "And if I go through with this, I win big-time. There's no way I lose. I've checked that inside out. I will get everything I want, and they will be destroyed forever. June will lose [custody of the son]...and Michael's career will be over."

3. Evan Chandler eventually got custody of his son and went to see a lawyer before reporting the alleged molestation case to the police. Isn't that suspicious?

4. "Before Chandler took control of his son, the only one making allegations against Jackson was Chandler himself -- the boy had never accused the singer of any wrongdoing."

5. Evan Chandler administered intoxicating substances to his son and only after that the boy was willing to testify against Jackson. It has been said that the boy was controlled by his father, and even his mother did not believe in Jackson's guilt.

6. Many children who had stayed overnight at Neverland swore that they never experienced misconduct of any kind on Jackson's part.

7. The police never found any incriminating material at Jackson's house. "After millions of dollars were spent by prosecutors and police departments in two jurisdictions, and after two grand juries questioned close to 200 witnesses, including 30 children who knew Jackson, not a single corroborating witness could be found. (In June 1994, still determined to find even one corroborating witness, three prosecutors and two police detectives flew to Australia to again question Wade Robson, the boy who had acknowledged that he'd slept in the same bed with Jackson. Once again, the boy said that nothing bad had happened.)"

8. Evan Chandler pulled out his son's aching tooth on 2 August 1993. But why did he use drug sodium Amytal on Jordie? Amytal is a drug that causes one to have false recollections and to become prone to suggestions. Jordie claimed that he had been molested only after he had been given Amytal.

9. Why did Evan Chandler hug Jackson after Jordie had claimed that he had been molested by the pop star? Isn't that suspicious?

10. By winter 1993 the Chandlers and Dave Schwartz had united against Jackson, and sought for multi-million dollar settlement.

11. Jackson was addicted to painkillers, and due to the emotional stress he suffered from, his advisers and lawyers advised him to settle the case outside court. In fact, it was Evan Chandler who had sought a settlement first. Why would he want to settle the case for money and not send a man who allegedly molested his son to jail?

12. "I found the case suspicious," says Dr. Underwager, the Minneapolis psychiatrist, "precisely because the only evidence came from one boy. That would be highly unlikely. Actual pedophiles have an average of 240 victims in their lifetime. It's a progressive disorder. They're never satisfied."

13. "Given the slim evidence against Jackson, it seems unlikely he would have been found guilty had the case gone to trial. But in the court of public opinion, there are no restrictions. People are free to speculate as they wish, and Jackson's eccentricity leaves him vulnerable to the likelihood that the public has assumed the worst about him."

Furthermore, at least the following points speak for Jackson's innocence:

1. Jordan claimed that he had seen Jackson's groin and buttocks. During the interrogations, he was asked to describe Jackson's genitalia. However, his description did not match.

2. After the case had been settled outside court, the police tried to seek another lawsuit against Jackson, but not enough evidence could be found. Also, Jordan refused to testify in court.

3. Dr Sundaram, a dentist who won a lawsuit against Santa Barbara prosecutors in 1996, has told that in 1994, he attended a private fund-raising event where he heard Tom Sneddon discuss a plan to run Jackson out of Santa Barbara and turn Neverland into a winery. According to Sundaram, Sneddon planned to do this by finding another child to accuse Jackson of sexual abuse. These claims imply that Sneddon bears a personal grudge against Jackson.

WHY IS MICHAEL JACKSON STILL CONSIDERED TO BE GUILTY OF MOLESTING JORDAN CHANDLER, THEN?

Because he's an adult, and because the stigma of being accused of paedophilia is so strong. Paedophilia is possibly the worst crime that one could imagine, and thus, people will always remember accusations, even if they remain unproven.
