CAD:

CAD stands for Computer Aided Drawing, or Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).  The two basic types of CAD are 2-D and 3-D.  After college I plan to be an Architectural Engineer, and in this career field I will be using CAD on a daily basis.

One of the classes that I took in tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades was an Architectural and Mechanical Drawing class where I was able to gain a lot of experience using CAD.  Below are links to two of my pages which contain examples of their respective types of drawing.

Career:

As I said above, I want to become an Architectural Engineer.  In order to accomplish this goal I am currently attending Drexel University to attain a degree in Architectural Engineering.  Then hopefully when I graduate, I will be able to land a job with an architecture firm or construction company, where I can put my degree to work.  In the future, I also hope to get a master's degree in the field and eventually become a certified Architectural Engineer after passing the PE examinations.  Perhaps someday I will also join in a partnership or start my own firm.

Using the Occupational Outlook Handbook I have found an average salary for the field, as well as the future outlook for the profession.  The average salary is $65,000.  The occupation is expected to grow about 25 to 30 percent in the next 7 to 10 years.
