All Quiet on the Western Front: A classic war novel by Eric Maria Remarque

Whoa. Seriously, what a book. AQOWF certainly isn't your average war novel, the one's that are filled with heroic rescues and miraculous glory (and other things to that extent.) Nope, Remarque tells things as they were in World War II. Remarque himself was in the war, and, as such, his book is filled with lots of... detail. Those of you who've read it know what I mean =). What also makes this book very interesting is the fact that it's told from a German soldier's point of view. Paul, the main character, deals with numerous situations (some fun, but most solemn) and problems, whether they be internal or external. He also develops his opinion about the war over the course of the novel. It's very interesting.
One thing that bothered me, however, was the choppy grammar and word organization in more than just a few spots. The book was translated from German, but it still distracts me. I mean, here someone is dying, and they lack commas in a list, or some small German language thing translated to English makes it sound funny... it kind of sucks, but I suppose it preserves the authenticity... or something...
Overall AQOWF was a great book. I recommend it... to be read... unless you've already read it in HS. Or you may just want to wait until HS to read it. Whatever.
Ok, so maybe AQOWF sucked and I just said all the stuff above to make the rant more lengthy. So sue me =P
