Some Words From The Front of The Peanut Gallery?

10-17-2004: my first sermon ever. Texts of the day (Proper 24, Year C in the Lectionary) were Genesis 32:3-8 and 22-30,
Psalm 121, II Timothy 3:14-4:5, and the Gospel According to St. Luke 18:1-8a.
These were Jacob wrestling at the Jabbok, "I lift my eyes up to the hills," St. Paul's admonition to Timothy
on persisting in study and preaching, and the parable of the importunate widow, respectively.
My rector and deacon were both out of town for the weekend, leaving me to lead a Morning Prayer service as well as preach, so I was a little tad bit nervous :D!
(Note - I have removed this mp3 recording from my site in the interest of sparing the bandwidth. Don't ya just looooove Geocities *wink*)

1-16-2005: my second sermon, but first sermon with the rector and deacon both hearing it live. Texts for Epiphany II, Year A -
Isaiah 49:1-7, Psalm 40:1-10, I Corinthians 1:1-9, and the Gospel According to St. John 1:29-41.
These were a recapitulation of Isaiah's calling, "I waited patiently upon the Lord" (the Expectans, expectavi of
one movement of Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms), the introduction to St. Paul's letter to Corinth,
and St. John's account of the first meeting of Christ and the disciples Simon Peter and Andrew.
