Classmates Memories & Dreams 2002

Koons, Steve (wife—Andrea, one daughter) Employment - Retired from U. S. Army, now working as a civilian with the Army

Dreams - Good health, good fortune, and continuing friendship? In addition, hope to have the "final" retirement plans in place and will have moved back to Tennessee near Ft. Campbell, KY and the home of the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT).

Memories – Now that I look back at those years, there were so many fond memories that it is difficult to pick one that stands out. Being a Future Farmer, planing in the band, orchestra, Student Council, football games, basketball games, and pep rallies all come to mind. But, I guess the fondest memory is just being a part of our class-which as the years grow on means more and more. We had such a really close class and probably didn’t realize it. But, that has all paid dividends as we all seem to getting closer together again, thanks to the internet, but the foundation of friends we formed has endure time and weather to take us where we are today. I am reminded a saying the British had when I served in one of their Battalions "…may the hinges of our frienship never rust". Seems to fit here!

Dreams – Stay healthy and be happy everyday, because who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Memories – All those slumber parties we all enjoyed on Friday nights. Sneaking out and meeting our boyfriends and wondering how Mom always found out. The slumber party in my house where we all put on all my warm socks in my drawer and traced over to the graveyard across from the house. The snow was blowing and knee deep that night! Needless to say, the next morning Mom found wet socks everywhere. If I remember correctly, I believe the police followed us back that night! The Candy Kitchen after school and on Saturdays when we had our cherry cokes and potato chips with mustard. All those "good ole days" we thought we were so miserable.

I want to become more involved with improving the life of a small village in Haiti, where a friend of mine works. With the donation of a small amount of money, the villagers are building a cassava mill that will support the teachers in a small school there. They want me to come down to teach them sandal-making from tires – apparently they have no footwear and parasitic diseases are being contracted through their feet

Memories – One of the classes that remains in my memory bank is Miss Shufflebarger’s, with our Shakespearean project – very creative for that era. I remember making a little Caesar doll with real laurel leaves for his headband and Janet Kelly’s model of the Globe Theater stand out in my mind.
