Michael Mauger's Trip Report: April 28 - May 1, 2000 / Boston, MA - Washigton, DC

To: Washington, DC; Union Station

Nancy-Lee and I took Amtrak #131 (Acela Regional) out of Boston's South Station to Washington, DC. The occasion was the marriage of my cousin Laurie Thompson to Eric Storch.

I recorded my sightings as best I could. Opposing trains passed too fast to gather much, so they are generally omitted. Most sightings were on sidings or stations.

Overall, the ride was good. We had business class accomidations which left us with plenty of leg and sitting room.

After we returned, I discovered that CSX had had a major failure in their communications network that had stranded freight, commuter and some Amtrak trains. We had no problems on our trip at all, despite warnings of trouble in Penn Station that might delay us.
