Christmas Thoughts

I dim the lights
the stars appear
the nighttime skies are oh, so clear.

And as the flakes begin to fall
I think of loved ones
one and all.

I think of Dad
in heaven above
and hope he knew how he was loved.

I think of Mom
whose far away
and wishing her a joyous day.

I think of my husband
standing next to me
knowing that's where he will always be.

I think of my brothers
who are not near
and hope for them, a wonderous year.

I think of my sister
my best friend, who
I'm sure does know, I love her, too.

I think of All
my friends on line
and wish for them, "peace of mind."

As in the background
I begin to hear
the Christmas Carolers coming near.

I invite them in to sing a song
as they warm up
and before too long

they're on their way
down the street
to cheer whomever they shall meet.

I rest for a second
in front of our tree
and just for a moment I think I see

the reflections of all
my loved ones in
the Christmas lights, that are so dim.

All Wrapped Up ...

'Tis the Eve before Christmas
as I ... sit here quietly.
I'm longing for the perfect gift
for you ... it has to be.
All wrapped up in love
am I ... in ribbons of green and red.
I only wish that you were here,
or I ... were there, instead.
As the night time stars begin
to fade ... and morning light appears
I'm looking towards the voice
I know ... that I will shortly hear.
We may not be together
on this ... the "day of all days", you know.
But we're all wrapped up in love
to stay ...forever in this glow.

Unwrapping

when first of snow lies 'cross the land
on this the eastern coast
it's time to put the flames on high
and lie in front and toast
the warmth inside to cold outside
is what makes scented steam
delight in this, wrap up in this
my favorite real life dream

the streets are lined, the tree limbs sway
and bow in winter's roar
I wait and peer through windows frost
a visit, I adore.
the footprints seen, they reach the door
ringing bells then hear
awaiting I, wrapped bowed in gold
in silken red, appear

entering, you gingerly
walk close to see my wrap
a smile becomes you when you say
"unwrapping is a snap"
the golden bow, touched fingers so
to undo binded me
falling out of silken red
my present now you see

the turn is yours to be for me
a wrapping warm and tight
to feel the heat, you blanket me
in yours all through the night
this christmas gift of I to you
and you to me, this way
in memory, in snowy lands
will ever present, stay
