The First Flakes

The first flakes have begun to fall,
surrounding me in white.
I always love to take a walk,
when the snow's so pure at night.

The footprints that I leave behind
are for everyone to see,
how much I love it, when it snows,
so they can follow me.

I love to walk as we hold hands
and we sing the songs of old.
Then as we continue, to stroll along,
I don't even mind the cold.

I feel the warmth, of this moment in time,
and just love the falling snows.
It tickles, as it touches my face
and rests upon my nose.

I love to make snow angels
and to have a snowball fight,
especially with the neighborhood kids,
who can throw, with all their might.

And the very next day,
after shoveling much ...
the next thing I love to do ...
is to build the biggest snowman
and to decorate him, too!

And all the cars that pass him by,
always wave, as if he's real.
I love my Mr. Snowman
and I build him with appeal.

It looks like I may have this chance,
for it's snowing so hard tonight.
It's quite wonderful, how it has waited for ...
Christmas to be in sight.

To See the World Anew ...

I gaze outside my window,
only to behold,
'A Wonderland of Crystal'
glistening in the cold.
The sun is shining brightly,
on this world of mine today.
The branches bowing down to me,
in such a reverent way,
welcoming me to a world of white,
a pure delightful view.
I take a breath and then a step,
another, maybe two.

This door's beginning to open,
allowing me to see.
There's so much on the outside,
so much to comfort me.
The air is so refreshing,
maybe, a little brisk.
But isn't everything good in life
worth taking some small risk?
I step outside and look around
and marvel at the sights.
To think that only yesterday,
my days seemed like my nights.

And now I think that even when
I have to go inside,
my lesson learned from all of this ...
is not to be denied.

There's a bright new world ahead of me
and all I need to do,
is go in and out a few more times ...
to see the world anew.

Catching Kisses

Soft and floating, gently, gently
Catching kisses, wet and cold
Landing, melting, warming, feeling
Kisses, snowflakes, each to hold

Reaching out and touching, touching
Fingertips, on cheeks, on lips
Tasting whiteness, cool, refreshing
Moments, special, temperatures dip

Oh the beauty, tree in dusting
Sparkling shine and glowing white
Thirty foot of evergreen, waiting
Feathered kisses, of this night

Standing out on grounds of softness
Limbs outstretched for starshine's touch
Far and wide is seen the beauty
Nature's treasures whitened much

Soft and floating, gently, gently
Each designed, not one the same
Beauty, eyes behold the wonder
Kisses soft, on this night came.
