oday was the final meeting with the country club and last minute shopping for the hotel guest bags and honeymoon stuffs. My friend Julie, my flower girl Alissa and I made the trip up to Lake Mohawk - the day was gorgeously cool and sunny and I was secretly praying for the same for Saturday. As we were driving up I began to feel the nerves start, they started as just butterflies in my belly but they slowly grew into more than just flutters - I was hyper and antsy the entire way up to the club - I was talking a mile a minute.
t hit me that this was for real - more than our last meeting with Fr. Joe the week before. We arrived somewhat on time for the appointment and the hall was ready for us. Larry, our maitre d', greeted me with a huge hug and kiss on the cheek - he is such an awesome individual, he treated us like royalty. He asked if we wanted to unload the car now or after the meeting and we opted for right then since the back of the Aztec looked like a mini bridal shop with all the stuff in it. As we were unloading the car I lost my car keys - I had them one minute and not the next. I didn't want to say anything to anyone cause I was like 'how did I manage to do that?' but the longer I couldn't find them, the more I started to worry - where were they and was this a sign for the next days to come? (My mind was definitely going - hallucinations is what I believe people call them)
inally I asked Larry if he had seen my keys and he said he would check the rolling cart that we had been placing everything onto - He was my lifesaver - my keys had fallen into the box with the chocolate covered spoons. He just smiled and said that these things happen - I smiled back. We proceeded to his office where all the boxes that we brought we being placed and we went through each item and the instructions I gave him for all the items. He was very patient with me because as, I mentioned I was starting to become a wreck - I must have repeated myself a few hundred times and all he did was smile at me and reassure me that he had it all set.
fter we went through my lists of things we went over the menu one last time and the Chef came in and he gave me a hug and kiss too (I felt like a Queen). Chef Jake reassured me that all the food was ordered and would be in tiptop shape for Saturday. We chatted a bit about final details and minor changes to things - whether I was ok with this additional hors d'ouvres or that one, etc. His staff was already at work prepping all the food.
t was then time to hand over the final payment and the most unusual thing happened - Larry told me that we had overpaid and that we were going to get money back! WOO HOO - I was already saving Kenny money and I wasn't even married! He then walked me to the ballroom and told me to take one last look around so that I could tell him what I needed done to the room. That when it hit me - in three days the room would be done up for my wedding and I was just speechless because there really wasn't anything that needed to be done to the room that would make it any more perfect. I wandered the room for a few minutes just taking it all in before I went to look for Julie and Alissa who were walking on the boardwalk. We said our good-byes to Larry and his staff and he hugged and kissed us all and sent us off.
e proceeded to go the dollar store for some last minute items for the hotel bags - these stores are just absolutely awesome for little knick-knacks. We also went to Ames for the honeymoon toiletries and I spent way too much money - so much for saving Kenny money. The entire way home all I kept thinking was that this was really happening and that tomorrow I was on my way to pick up my dress and go through the wedding rehearsal at church and then the dinner. I was getting married and my stomach was in shambles - those butterflies were having a field day with me.
hile Julie and I were out getting these little things accomplished, my mother was headed towards La Guardia Airport to pick up my cousins, who along with the girls, would be staying at the house. The running around had officially begun.
