I tried to post something a few days ago, but something blew up in the process. Here's me trying again.
School is out and not a moment too soon. I am not teaching Maymester for the first time in several years, but that means I get two classes Summer II. I suppose I'll start planning for those pretty soon. The project is all but over -- a few reporting things to do, and I'm sad to see it go. Some things did not turn out as I had hoped, but alas. I'll get back to teaching way too many classes in the fall, and I'll have a new interim dean. Oh freakin' boy.
The soccer season ended on a sour note. We got beat handily, and that ran the girls' record to not so good. I'm hopeful for Fall, but some girls are moving up, some are not, and some are not sure if they will play. That's the peril of living in a small town. Others decide not to play and there isn't much left of those who do.
Max missed out on some end of the year scout stuff because of some miscommunication. We were told there were no more meetings, but lo and behold, I drive by one Tuesday night and there is Max's troup just getting done. He wants to go to Twilight Camp, but this little snafu and the lack of money keep him from it.
This is, in a way, the crappy part of summer because we don't have money to do something cool. Michaela wants to go to a couple camps (basketball, volleyball, band), but the budget just doesn't let us. The twins will be going to camp with the youth group later this month, the same week Alex is in Chicago with her choir. And next month, I think, all three will do Summer in the City with the youth.
I'm trying to get a little writing done. Nothing major. I mostly want to get back in the habit of doing it everyday. Has not been easy, mostly because I resist the need to get up at the crack of dawn now that I don't absolutely have to.
We have been cleaning up the house, little by little. Now that more people are home, of course, the process runs slower. But I'm not completely embarrassed to have people inside. I spent several days on the study alone. I spend much of my energy guarding it. Some reading. A little writing.
I guess that's it for now.

Hi Mike. Know what you mean. I finally get paid on THursday. My bonus for not taking personal days off from school will goto Jaclyn's driving school. OH Boy. Looking forward to the 4th of July. Are you guys coming? Kaye
