Well what do you know, ShadowMUD is back yet again, although this time it's under new management and is still being rebuilt.

The new address is portent.genesismuds.com:1030

Well ShadowMud is back up with yet another IP address. Once the DNS name propagates you can use theblacktower.com but until then you can connect via it's IP of 66.57.68.198, port 3000 of course. If you want to get oMud to connect right away instead of waiting for DNS to propagate you can manually add the IP to your hosts files. Of course this is only for Windows users. For Win2k, Winxp users it should be in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, for Win95/98/ME I think it's in c:\windows. Just edit the hosts file in Notepad and add a line like the following:

66.57.68.198 theblacktower.com

For those of you that have been asking, ShadowMUD is back up, although on a different address at shadowmud.theblacktower.com, port 3000. Since the move it may take some time before the DNS entries are updated for everyone so in the meantime connect via it's IP 69.134.140.111.

You've probably also noticed that my site has moved to Geocities (Yahoo). That's thanks to my ISP who have still yet to remove the ads from our sites. They say it will happen eventually but I'm not holding my breath.

Even though SM is back up I doubt I'll be playing it much at all anymore. I've lose most of my interest in the game for numerous reasons. Some that could have been avoided, others that can't. I've also been investing nearly all of my computer time into playing WoW so if anything SM takes the back burner for a long while. This also means I won't be doing anything more to the site (not that I have in a looooong time).

Well I finally got up to posting another update on here and I have a lot to say so here goes.

First off is why I haven't posted in a while. I started out wanting to keep this page up to date but after getting all of the information I had collected up on the site the motivation slowed but I also got very busy with work and life in general. I've watched all of the comments come through the guestbook and I'm sure someday I'll put some if not all in. I just don't have the time right now to work on some of them. Thank you for all of the suggestions and good words!

One of the suggestions I got was to put up a forum so people could really talk about stuff outside the restraints the mud imposes on us. I thought about it and found a free forum but scrapped the idea pretty quickly when I saw Icey's new forum. It's setup nicely and I encourage everyone to check it out and post away!! You can visit his forum at the following link: http://s3.invisionfree.com/Iceys_Forum

Next are what I'm looking for from the rest of the players. I'd like to eventually add a getting started guide for each of the classes. I'm hoping to get the current council in on this as well so the guides can be standardized across the classes. I'm looking for suggestions for race, stats, subclassing, skills, combat techniques, fighting areas, weaknesses or things to avoid, weapons, armour, items and anything else you can think of that might help. I'll post again once I figure out where you should be sending the suggestions.

Since the red plains opened up I've had people ask me if I was going to map it. Well since I don't see pigs flying yet, I'll let you figure out the answer to that. If someone wants to map it or give me a list of whatever lies there with directions to them, send it to me and I'll put it up. I have only been in there once so don't ask me anything about it. Ask your fellow mudders or go in yourself.

One last thing I'm looking for is for someone to map the rest of the islands that I'm missing or are incomplete.

Please don't ask me why you were banned or arrested and use your current name. How the hell am I supposed to get back to you if you're suspended? Leave a different way for me to contact you. Duh!

I'll try to post again soon but as you can see from the last time I posted, don't hold your breath.

It's been a week since I put the new site up and it already has 300 hits. It's good to see that people are getting good use out of the site. Now to figure out what else to add to the site. I'm sure something will come up.

As you can see I finally managed to put the new site up. I figure it's a lot easier to navigate this way and I'll have more space to add more stuff. There are bound to be bugs so e-mail me if you've found any.

Here's a list of the changes:
- Added Quests page
- Added Classes page with lots of more info
- Added Tools page for useful tools including a link to download oMud from Ore's site.
- I've added or updated maps for Pariah, Pariah Jungle, Sewers, Ant island, Kieron, Westlands.
- Added lots of more directions to the main maps page.
- Added a Site Contents page to see all the links in one place, including all the maps.

I think those are all the changes. I hope people are getting good use out of this place so all the time I wast...er.. I mean spent mapping all this stuff was worth it. Don't get me wrong, I use these maps all the time myself, but c'mon have you SEEN the tundra? That place is huge. Anyways, if you see anything that's wrong, or something you'd like to see added, or just want to comment on it, add it to the guestbook or e-mail me.

I've also disabled the old site url, http://shadowmud.webhop.net. People should be using http://shadowmud.no-ip.com

Take care!
