FAQ

Of course 3D models is what all this service about. We will describe here what we call "Standard Features" on the contrary to "Special Features" which are increasing amount of work and the price.

Models quality

3D Assistant Inc. is a team of design professionals.  We a have years of experience of 3D parametric solid, wireframe, surface and assembly modeling. We have modeled parts for almost every type of industry so we always know many specific issues related to modeling techniques. We always choose most appropriate way to build a model to make it easy to modify. We always maintain what is called Design Intent - the logic of the part creation. Models received from us could be used for parametric assembly design, associative drafting, FEM tasks, CNC programming and others. Our models could be reused since they contain the design intent of original parts stored in a 2D drawings. The results couldn’t be even compared to any automatic 2D-to-3D translators.

Modeling specifics

Every type of mechanical part: machined, plastic, casted, sheet metal, aero/hydro surface or sculptural/ergonomic surface has its own specifics during 3D modeling, for example drafts and rounds in plastic and casted parts. Usually we built-in such a features into the models during our standard modeling if they clearly specified in an original drawing. We do modeling accurately with all needed constrains, relations and dimensions. You can specify how we should use layers and construction geometry. Click here for the list of our Special features.

Models Formats

Every time you order a 3D modeling you should clearly specify 3D models format and version. You can get a parametric feature-based 3D model, ready to use and modify, thanks to our ability to work directly inside of CAD system you use. In case if your CAD system is not on the list we are offering you a list of standard interchange 3D formats. If you are ordering models in interchange format please always specify what CAD system you will use to read them.
