Chapter 7

Justin pulled his baseball cap down further on his head as he adjusted the bag over his shoulder. His legs were sore from sitting on a non-stop flight from Orlando to Seattle. Six in a half hours on a plane, sitting next to a sleeping JC and a little girl who wouldn’t stop kicking the seat in front of her, and asking questions about things he didn’t even know about. Justin looked over at JC; he had black sunglasses on covering up his beauties… the ocean blue eyes that Justin loved to look at.

They walked down to baggage claim, after twenty minutes of searching for their bags they finally spotted them. Justin pulled the two bags and they both walked to get a cab. Of course they were going to be spotted by fans, and they were somewhat ready for that. Justin had come up with what to say they were on business and were only in town for a few hours. JC on the other hand just wanted to tell them they were taking a three-day break from hell to be with each other. Nevertheless, JC wasn’t going to get it his way, he knew if he did it would be the end of the three guys’ back in Orlando. The cab pulled up to the apartment loft building, JC paying the money as Justin unlocked the front door and held it open for JC.

“I have to admit Lynn sure does have good taste when it comes to picking out places.” JC half smiled walking through the front doors. The white couch was ten feet away; sitting on top of a white carpet that accented the wooden end tables and coffee table. The TV was hidden in the entertainment center along with the stereo, movies and music.

JC glanced at Justin who was looking around the place, like something was wrong with it he loved the place. They had been up there many times before, whenever they were in Seattle for a photo shoot, interview, or the tour, they would stay in the loft apartment. The front door slowly closed as JC took a step closer to Justin.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” JC asked running a hand down Justin’s arm.

Justin slowly looked at him, and half smiled.

“Nothing man, I’m just beat, the photo shoot, interview six hour plane ride, only to gain three more hours into my day… after loosing six.” Justin shrugged placing the bags against the wall and walking to the couch, with JC right behind him.

“Let’s just order some pizza and watch some TV tonight, it’s already nine o’clock and I’m not up to going out anywhere anyway.” JC half shrugged sitting on the couch next to Justin, pulling a blanket that rested on the back of the couch, JC covered them up and grabbed the remote. With a click of the button, the covers over the TV moved and sound poured into the room.

“Josh… I’m sorry…” Justin’s voice was almost softer than whisper.

JC looked up at him, trying to figure out what he was sorry for. Justin’s eyes were closed and his head was tilted backwards as if he were trying to stop tears from running down his face.

“Justin, don’t be sorry. Things happen for a reason, even though you might not like some of the things, they happen for a reason.” JC’s voice was smooth; low almost as if he was trying to believe the words he spoke as he spoke them to Justin.

“I love you. I love you so much, that this whole wedding isn’t going to happen. I don’t care if it breaks up *NSYNC, I don’t care about Joey, Lance or Chris. If they were our true friends, they wouldn’t be pushing us apart…” Justin started but JC cut him off.

“They aren’t pushing us apart…”

“Josh, damn it YES THEY ARE. Don’t tell me you don’t believe me. Think about it, you are upset and jealous about it, I hate her, and… it’s happening, they are trying to break us apart. Not just you and I… but the group, I’m not happy unless we are together, and they don’t want us to be together.” Justin stopped abruptly when JC’s mouth started to lightly touch his jaw line giving him butterfly kisses.

Justin moved his face and pulled JC into a hug as his lips over took JC’s in a soft yet sweet and long passionate kiss.

Their kiss ended with the front door opening and the sound of a woman’s shoes clicking on the hard wood floor. Than the voice rang out, into the loft apartment, the voice that made Justin, as well as JC want to die right then and there.

“Randy, we can’t push the wedding back another two months, I’ve told you this. It’s our sons wedding, you have to be there… and you ask why we got divorced! I’m in Seattle for a few days; I’m doing a convention for Just-In-Time Entertainment. I’m not sure where Justin is; the guys don’t know where he of Joshua is. They both took off after their interview today and no one has heard from them since. Damn it Randy, I don’t care if you were supposed to go to France for vacation, I’m going to kill Justin for not telling you why we can’t push the wedding back… What? Yes, she’s about a month along… I asked her if that was the reason they were getting married, but she assured me that he had asked way before she got pregnant…” Lynn sat her bag down and shut the door.

JC looked at Justin, hurt by what he just heard, Laura was pregnant, and it was Justin’s child. Justin was just as shocked by hearing this, he sat up and looked at his mother, who was standing looking at the TV with confusion written all over her face. The blanket dropped off of Justin’s shoulder and landed on top of JC’s face.

“She’s pregnant!” Justin half yelled looking at a shocked Lynn, “MOM WHAT?” Justin asked jumping over the side of the couch and taking a few steps to be in front of Lynn.

Lynn hung up on Randy, looking at her son as if he were a ghost. That is until his voice yelled at her again.

“You didn’t know?” Lynn asked, not knowing what to say.

“That FUCKING BITCH. SHE KNEW! She knew I’d want to pull out and she used me…. She got pregnant, so we would have to get married. Well, I’ll show her, we aren’t getting married.” Justin’s voice rang through the place even after he slammed the door.

Lynn was staring at the back of the couch when JC jumped up and ran towards the door, she was shocked yet again, why were they both lying on the couch with blankets?

Katie sat in her office, she had just watched the tape with *NSYNC and was in the process to watch it again, she couldn’t help but watch it over and over again. No she wasn’t much of a fan of the guys, and she didn’t think they were ‘hot’ there was something on that tape that caught her eye, and she had to find out what it was. The taped finish rewinding and started to play again. Her eyes watched the face as he answered questions; her ears listened to the way he said “Justin.” She watched his face turn from one of a happy man, to one of a jealous lover, when Justin started to talk about getting married.

“Mary Ann!” Katie yelled for her supervisor and editor and chief of the magazine.

Mary Ann pushed open the door with a smirk on her face.

“It’s called a phone, you pick it up, press a button and get me on the phone, there isn’t any need for yelling.” She said while closing the door, “What’s up?”

“You know the guys of *NSYNC pretty well, I mean you’ve worked with them a lot when they were in Cosmo Girl… did any one of them come off as homosexual?” Katie asked a little unsure.

“Once or twice, if asked the right thing, one or two of them would googoo eyes at each other, other than that they all acted straight. Why?” Mary Ann asked.

“Well, I taped the interview, you know, testing it out to see if it works better than using a regular recorder, which it does, and… well, watch for your self.” Katie said pressing rewind then play when it was time.

“Hey, Justin’s getting married, way to go kid.” Mary Ann laughed walking towards the door.

“Wait, you didn’t see it, stop watch it again.” Katie said rewinding it. “Watch where JC’s eyes go when he answers my question about cool whip.” Katie mumbled loud enough for Mary Ann to watch JC look at Justin and say sex.

Mary Ann took a seat and noticed the same things Katie had noticed how JC looked at Justin, how he said his name, he looked sad. She noticed how Justin looked at JC after mentioning he was getting married, how he was the only one that called him Josh while the rest called him JC.

“Did you all meet how you say you met? JC and Justin on MMC… blah, blah, blah?” Katie asked looking at each guy.

“Well, Josh and I became close friends after the first year of MMC, at first I thought he hated me, him and Tony Lucca were ALWAYS picking on me, I think it was my curly hair.” Justin half smiled as he glanced at JC.

“Chris and JC had met each other through me. Since Chris and I worked in Universal Studio’s and JC and Justin went to my high school while they were on the show.” Joey said putting one hand on Justin’s shoulder and another on JC’s.

“I knew Justin, and he introduced me to JC and the rest of the gang, the rest is history, and here we are sitting in front of you, your camera and a bunch of PR’s and no bodies.” Lance smiled brightly for the camera.

Katie clicked the TV off after the tape finished rewinding again; she looked at Mary Ann, than at what she had typed up before. She read over it real fast.

Here we are, sitting on stools in front of a video camera; Justin is getting his picture taken first while the guys crack jokes at him. I started out with random questions, ones you aren’t supposed to think of an answer, you just blurt out whatever is on your mind, or comes to mind when you hear the question. It was quite funny, after reading magazine after magazine about how innocent these five boys were, and most of their answers were sex answers. We aren’t saying that is a bad thing, well, I’m not saying it’s bad. If it were up to me, these boys could talk about sex any time they wanted.

Katie highlighted it all and deleted it, she wasn’t sure what to write now, it was supposed to be an interview that captured the true *NSYNC. The true Lance, Chris, Joey, JC, and Justin, not the image they were gave 8 years before, but an image that was real, their true image. Not Johnny Wrights’ Image, but theirs.

“So… would it be wrong if I wrote what I see into the magazine?” Katie asked biting down on her lower lip.

“No, it wouldn’t be wrong, write it up, and let me look it over. Just don’t say they ARE gay, just lead it on to make people think twice about it. I mean if they didn’t want us to know, than they shouldn’t have been making googoo eyes at each other, right?” Mary Ann smiled as she stood up and left so Katie to do her write up on the interview.
