°¥° The Little Things °¥°
Chapter Eight
Justin walked from the front room into the kitchen, in tow a little cat, Hailee, and an arm full of plates. Everyone was at JC’s house it had been a week since they got back. Adrea had some news to share with everyone in the house, which meant everyone in the group had to be at JC’s house. Sarah helped Adrea cook lunch, it was now going on 5pm and dinnertime was coming up soon. Hailee had been bugging Justin the whole night for no reasons at all. She hadn’t seen him in almost a week which was far to long for her to not bug him.
“Hays, why don’t you go bug your Aunt Sarah or something?” Justin asked putting the dishes in the sink pushing the cat away with his foot.
“She told me to leave her alone 3 hours ago.” Hailee yawned as she picked up the cat.
“I’ve got an Idea, why don’t you go bug Uncle Chris! He loves you so much, more then anyone in the world. Go bug him, he’ll even play with Smiles.” Justin said turning Hailee around and pushing her lightly towards the door to the front room.
“Fine, I’ll go play with Chris, but not because you told me to, only because my mom is coming into the kitchen, and I don’t want her to yell at you for bugging me.” Hailee smiled as she ran out of the kitchen just as Adrea walked into it.
“Hey there, Justin, you don’t have to help pick up the dishes.” Adrea said as she pulled her hair off her shoulders and threw it on her back.
Justin leaned up on the counter as Adrea started to rinse the dishes and put them in the dishwasher. He was messing with a pen humming a song that had been stuck in his head for nearly a week.
“What you humming?” Adrea asked rinsing her hands and drying them on a kitchen towel.
“Oh, just a song, it’s been stuck in my head for almost a week. I’ve tried to get it out.” Justin said shrugging his shoulders.
“Have you tried to sing it?” Adrea asked opening the oven and looking in at the pizza.
“Yeah, I’ve tried to sing it. It just made it even worse.” Justin said with a slight laugh
“Maybe you should play the song. That or get out of my kitchen and actually talk to everyone. What is up with you, we don’t see you in nearly a week and you become a hermit. What did Sarah do to you? Did she turn you down again? Because if she did, I think you should actually try and move on. Wait, you never told her how you felt so she can’t turn you down.” Adrea smiled up at Justin as she got into the refrigerator pulling out some beer and sodas.
“Boy Addy, you sure do have the answers to every little problem don’t you?” Justin asked with a little laugh pushing off of the counter.
“What song do you have stuck in your head? Maybe Josh or I have the CD and you can listen to it.” Adrea said turning off the oven and pulling the now hot and done pizza out.
“I’ll make love to you, like you want me to. And I’ll hold you tight, all through the night. I’ll make love to you, like you want me to. And I will not let go, Till you tell me too…” Justin sang lightly as he walked towards the front room. “Do you have Boys II Men?” Justin asked walking the rest of the way into the front room.
Justin sat down on the couch everyone was watching Sunday night football. This was the first time all the guys had actually sat down in a real front room and watched Sunday night football in almost a year. The only thing odd about being there was trying to find a way to act.
Looking up, Justin’s eyes met with Sarah’s eyes, which were sparkling with happiness. Sarah looked back to Hailee and the cat after smiling at him. The fact of the matter was how were they supposed to act around the others. Sure they all wanted them to hook up, they always have wanted that to happen, everyone but JC did up until a year or so.
Now that they found out how they felt about each other, they couldn’t stand being away from each other. They couldn’t get enough of each other, after that late night, or early morning. The photos hadn’t hit the papers or magazines yet; they were waiting for them to hit the next day in star magazine and were shocked to see nothing in it. Maybe everyone was stopping with the rumors and photos.
“Guys, the pizza is cooked, done, and ready to be ate.” Adrea said walking into the front room turning around and walking back into the kitchen with almost everyone behind her.
Justin grabbed Sarah’s hand and stopped her from walking past him; he was about to say something when JC and Joey walked into the front room with their pizza. Smiling Sarah pulled her hand away and walked into the kitchen, where Adrea stood alone leaning up against the counter thinking.
“What you thinking about?” Sarah asked grabbing a paper plate and putting a piece of pizza on it.
Adrea looked up at Sarah and smiled slightly, she was sick of seeing Justin mope around unhappy that Sarah didn’t like him the way he liked her. Adrea watched as the grabbed a soda and popped it open.
“Have you ever thought about going out with Justin?” Adrea asked, almost making Sarah spit out her pop.
“What? Why?” Sarah asked sitting the food and drink down.
Adrea looked at Sarah for a few more seconds thinking if she should tell her. Sarah stood there, after waiting almost a minute for Adrea to keep talking she grabbed another paper plate, putting two pieces of pizza on it.
“Listen, Sarah, I’m not sure if I should be telling you this. I am just a little sad about this whole ordeal.” Adrea started, making Sarah stare at her. “Justin is in love with you, and you seem to break his heart every day you are around him…” Adrea stopped when Sarah started to laugh a little. She was about to ask what was so funny; Sarah spoke up to soon.
“I know how he feels, he told me.” Sarah smiled as she picked up her plate with pizza and walked into the front room.
Adrea stood there a little in shock, she was about to go into the front room when JC walked in the kitchen. A smile on his face, he sat the paper plate on the counter and walked over to her.
“Come here you.” He said as he pulled her closer to him, pressing his lips ever so softly to hers. “I think now is the time, it’s half time and everyone is just sitting around talking.” JC said sliding his arms around her and taking her into a tight hug.
“Yeah, I guess it’s now or never.” Adrea said taking in JC just before he pulled away from her.
JC grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the kitchen and right in front of the TV. Chris was trying to listen to the announcers and started to boo them.
“Chris shut up!” Hailee laughed handing him Smiles, the cat.
“Listen guys…” JC started
All eyes were on them; it wasn’t that hard to tell them what they were going to say. Adrea took a deep breath before she blurted it all out, very fast.
“I’m 4 weeks pregnant.” Adrea said while closing her eyes. As she opened them she noticed six faces all of them with their jaws on the floor.
Sarah was the first one to react, jumping up and running to give JC a hug.
“You’re going to be a daddy, I’m going to be an aunt!” Sarah smiled hugging Adrea next. “Justin, JC is going to be a daddy!” Sarah smiled turning to look at him, still shocked at the news.
Once the other guys were over their shock they each stood up and gave JC and Adrea a hug. Joey was the first to put his hand on her stomach and talk to it. Chris was making a joke about what to name the baby, while Lance gave Joey a hand with Adrea’s stomach. Sarah and Justin were talking about the news.
Hailee was still sitting where she had been, where Chris used to be sitting. News of a baby made everyone not notice her, what would happen when this baby showed up? She didn’t like this at all; she didn’t like it that everyone was talking about this baby. Trying to get JC or her moms attention and not getting very far, Hailee looked around the room. What was going to get them to look at her? With her anger filled eyes, she locked on what would do the job. In the matter of seconds Hailee pushed all the beer, pop and pizza off the coffee table on to the white carpet.
The room got quiet and all eyes were on Hailee. Adrea’s eyes got big then filled with anger. Adrea grabbed Hailee by the arm and pulled her up the stairs, not saying a word until she was behind closed doors. Sarah ran into the kitchen to get some napkins, paper towels, and a wet towel to help pick up the mess on the white floor.
“Why did you do that Hailee?” Adrea asked trying to not yell at her 10-year-old daughter. Hailee just looked up at her mom from her bed, her arms a crossed her chest with a slight smile on her face.
“I don’t know.” Hailee said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
“Hailee! You do know why the hell did you that stuff on to our white carpet? Answer me now!” Adrea said in a half yell.
“I DO NOT KNOW WHY!” Hailee yelled in Adrea’s face, which was the first time she had ever yelled at her mother like that.
With out thinking twice about it, Adrea pulled Hailee to her and spanked her a few times very hard. Adrea pushed Hailee onto the bed, making Hailee’s eyes burn with tears.
“You are grounded.” Adrea said turning around and walking to the door. Pulling it open Adrea closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she had never raised a hand to her daughter at all.
“I HATE YOU!” Hailee yelled just before Adrea shut the door.
Sure it was just a carpet, and they had almost way to much money. That wasn’t the whole point in grounding her, Adrea thought maybe she had a reason as to why she did that. Hailee was such a good child, she could get mouthy some times, but what kid didn’t get mouthy? What was going to happen now with Hailee? If she starts to act up now, what is she going to be like in 3 years?” Adrea kept thinking all kinds of things as she walked down the stairs.
