Chapter Ten

JC called Trevor up the day before the got to California for the award show. He was thinking about having Adrea and Hailee come with him then decided against it. He was married yes, for only a month and showing up with a 10-year-old daughter would start rumors. Hailee acted like she understood she didn’t care, and she was still going through her stage where she thought everyone was leaving her out anyway. Going to Trevor’s house would let her tell him lies and get him mad.

Sarah sat down on the hotel bed, she was wearing gray sweat pants with her dress hanging on her, and her shoes in her hands. Thoughts were running through her head, the photos of Justin kissing her a few weeks ago were published in star magazines the day before. This time you could clearly tell they were really kissing and that it was Sarah and Justin. Sarah had avoided the phone calls from Karen and Roy most of the day yesterday and today, that was all she needed to explain to them that her and Justin were together.

She had explain to them about the fake dating to help Justin out, and then she told them how they were done doing that and it was going to get back to normal. Normal is a word she knows a little about and Justin knows nothing about. So after Star published the photos, family was calling to see if they were old photos and what was going on.

The hotel phone ringing stopped her thoughts, Sarah sighed as she rolled over the bed and grabbed the phone.

“Yes?” Sarah asked a little annoyed she had over three hours to get ready, she didn’t even have to get ready for another hour.

“Sorry to bother you Ms. Chasez, but there is a man on the other line claiming to be your father. I was thinking he was just a fan of your brothers so I just told him to stop calling, he insists that he is your father, do you want me to hang up on him or would you like to talk to him?” The younger lady in the front desk of the hotel asked biting her bottom lip.

She was new to the hotel and she was very nice to everyone. This was her first week working here, and she was a big fan of *NSYNC’s, of course she was going to be extra nice to JC’s sister.

“I’ll talk to him.” Sarah said in half her voice her heart was racing at who it could be. Why would anyone say they were her fathers, unless it was Roy? No one knew Sarah was adopted. Sarah waited a few minutes then heard a man’s voice he was talking to someone in the background. “Hello?” Sarah asked to the man’s voice.

“Am I speaking with Sarah Chasez?” The man asked in a business type of voice.

“Yes, Who might you be?” Sarah asked her head pounding along with her heart.

She nearly fell over when he said his name at the same time there was a knock at the door.

“My name is Gavin Erik Garrett.” He started then stopped suddenly when he heard Sarah take a deep short breath.

“Gavin how do you know me?” Sarah asked as she got up, and opens the door letting the person in.

Justin walked in and looked Sarah up and down; he held his laughter in seeing as she was on the phone. Justin sat down on the bed and looked around the room. Adrea’s stuff was still neatly packed up, while Sarah’s stuff was all over the room. Justin watched as Sarah sat down on the bed across from him, her hand moving to her face slowly and her mouth dropping open.

Sarah stood up when she noticed Justin was looking at her, worry wrote all over his face. She couldn’t believe who was on the phone.

“Sasha Ann Madison, also known as Sasha Ann Garrett, was my wife. You would be my daughter, Angel Ann Garrett. They must have changed your name when you were adopted by the Chasez’s.” Gavin said into the phone pressing his ear trying to hear her, or anything. What he did hear was a male voice.

Justin stood up fast when Sarah gasped, thinking some crazy fan had called her and was harassing her. Justin’s hand went towards the phone, only to have Sarah turn so he couldn’t grab the phone, still Sarah made no sound just held on to the phone.

“Sarah, what is wrong? Let me see the phone.” Justin said putting his hands on her shoulder and turning her so that she was facing him.

Sarah looked up at Justin, her face emotionless, her eyes showed shock, mixed with happiness.

“Angel, I mean Sarah. Is that your boy friend? Is he hurting you?” Gavin said quickly all he heard was Justin trying to get the phone from her.

Justin gave up after Sarah jumped on the bed and stood there looking at him as she held the phone. Sitting down, he knew she would tell him what was wrong when the time was right. A squeak came out of her mouth making Justin jump up, this time pulling the phone out of Sarah’s hand.

“All right who the hell are you? Some kind of sick-o calling my girlfriend up! I’ll get the FBI on your ass next time you call, don’t you think I-“ Justin was cut off by Sarah jumping on his back.

“Justin that is my dad, my real dad!” Sarah said trying to pull the phone away from him.

Justin sat down on the bed with Sarah’s legs around his waist and the phone pressed to his ear; he was shocked to hear that after 22 years her father would be calling her up. Sarah pulled the phone away from Justin and put it up to her mouth.

“So you are saying you are my real father?” Sarah asked hope in her voice. Her heart was pounding faster and faster as she sat there.

“Yes, I’ve been looking for you for 22 years, every time I thought I found you it was a dead end. I know this might sound bad, but yesterday I was talking to work and I spotted this Star Magazine. I had a few minutes to spare so I picked it up and started to read it. There was my daughter, the little Angel 22 years of age on the cover. I called every where today and I finally got a hold of a bird who gave me the number to the hotel you were staying in.” Gavin said biting his bottom lip

“You’ve been looking for me? Why didn’t you just call my mom before she died when I was 2?” Sarah asked tightening her legs around Justin’s waist.

They sat like that for a good twenty minutes while Sarah talked to her real father on the phone; he lived in California for ten-years. Justin had started to watch TV after ten minutes of sitting there, he wasn’t paying attention too much to what Sarah was saying, and it wasn’t his business what they said. That was until what Sarah said last.

“What am I doing tonight?” Sarah asked biting her lower lip, with her left hand she ran it across Justin’s back and around to his chest.

“I’d like to see you tonight, for some coffee. Kind of like a get-to-know-me type of thing? What do you say? Are you in or not?” Gavin said loudly into the phone, thus making it easy for Justin to hear.

Justin turned around so that he was facing her, his eyes slightly slanted, his eyebrows raised as far as they could go.

“You can’t go meet him tonight.” Justin said trying to keep his voice low, however, now low enough for Gavin to hear.

“When could I go? It’s not like I live here.” Sarah said moving her hand over the mouthpiece of the phone.

“I live here, I’ve got a house. If you want we can stay for months. You can’t pull out of the award show on me not, today. We were supposed to go public today, you can see him tomorrow…” Justin started to ramble making Sarah smile.

Sarah moved the phone back up to her ear to hear Gavin talking.

“I’m sorry if I called at a bad time Angel, If you are doing something, from the sounds of it, an Award show with your boyfriend then we can do it some other time.” Gavin said trying to win her over so that she’d meet with him tonight.

“Yeah, I’ve had plans for weeks now, tonight isn’t a good night. What is your phone number and I’ll call you tomorrow on a time to meet you?” Sarah asked looking at Justin who hadn’t moved his eyes off of her.

Sarah wrote down the phone number Gavin gave her and then said good bye hanging up the phone. Justin pulled Sarah towards him by her legs and kissed her softly on the lips.

“You were about to blow me off for some old man you never met before.” Justin said resting his forehead on Sarah’s. A small laugh left Sarah’s mouth, which was followed by a smile and a small kiss.

“Shouldn’t you be getting ready? I know you Justin Timberlake. It takes you a good two in a half hours to get ready for anything that is going to be on TV and replayed for years to come.” Sarah said moving up on the bed again trying to move off of it.

A smile came on his face as he pulled Sarah to him by her legs again, crawling up the bed so that he was lying on top of her. Justin kissed her up her jaw line and stopped at her ear.

“I want to replay what happen about a week a-“ Justin was cut off by the hotel door opening and Adrea with JC walking in.

Sarah slowly brought her hand up to her face and over her eyes, Justin let out a low laugh and thoughts of what JC was going to do about what he just walked in on. Anger was in JC’s eyes, he could care less about them getting together, making out, and dating. He just didn’t want to even think they would be sleeping with each other. Taking a deep breath JC closed the door and sat down in a chair that was sitting next to the table.

Before anyone could yell at anyone, Sarah pushed Justin up and sat up, running a hand through her hair. She looked at Justin then to Adrea and to JC. Taking a long deep breath, closing her eyes, Sarah opened them and looked at JC.

“I got a phone call.” Was all Sarah said at first, trying to think of how to finish what she started, there was no easy way to say it. “It was from my dad.” Sarah said looking at JC

“Dad called me too, he has been trying to get a hold of you since last night, did y-“

“NO JC! My real dad called me. My father, the one that I have half his chromosomes.” Sarah said letting her feet hang off the end of the bed. All JC did was stare at her, not able to say a word. Nothing in this world could get him ready to hear that one.

Sarah looked at JC then to Justin; tears were about to spill out of her eyes if he didn’t say anything soon. Sarah slid off the bed and started to walk towards him. His voice stopped her where she was only a few feet from him.

“What did he have to say? Did he say sorry for leaving the country when your mother died so he didn’t have to take care of you? Did he tell you how he didn’t want anything to do with you?” JC asked tensing up at the thought of the man calling her up.

“What? He told me how he has been trying to find me.” Sarah said looking at her so-called brother.

“Sarah, don’t you see it? You’ve been some hot item in the music business with you dating Justin Timberlake from *NSYNC. He had his chances to see you, all your life he has. He didn’t want to see you when you were ‘normal’.” JC started then stopped abruptly. He wasn’t supposed to say half the stuff he said.

Through out Sarah’s life, Karen and Roy tried to find her father, that way she could meet him and be happy. She was happy with Karen, Roy, and JC, she wanted more though, and she wanted to know where she came from, who her relatives were. Karen and found the man that was called, Gavin Erik Garrett. He wanted nothing to do with his real blood daughter.

“You lie…” Sarah started but stopped when she felt Justin’s hand on her shoulder
