Chapter 6
(Tuesday March 12th, 2002 Anaheim)
Silence filled the bus, each person in there was either speechless or just
didn't want to get involved. Everyone was getting along great until Rain
had to leave that day now Justin and Shay were at each others throats
again. Like old times, Justin being a jerk and Shay snapping at him.
"Hey, come on not before the concert. I don't like doing the sound
check parties with headaches because of you two." JC raised his voice as he
grabbed Shay's arm and started to pull her towards the back.
"JC, don't just go and take her when we are talking." Justin snapped
following them only to have the back door slammed shut in his face.
Justin ran a hand over he face as he kicked one of the bunks and started
towards the front of the bus. Slowly the door opened causing Justin to turn
around and watch JC walk out leaving Shay alone in the room.
JC stopped in front of Justin and looked up at him. "Cool it, her sister
did just leave. Give her a few minutes to collect her self." JC's voice was
a low whisper as he looked back at the door that was now closed.
"If you weren't so caught up in dreaming about screwing her you'd
know that I'm flying her to see her family the night after the Vegas
concert." Justin hissed pushing past JC and walking into the back room.
Shay looked up at Justin, tears in her eyes. It was hard to say bye to a
loved one, knowing you wouldn't be seeing them for weeks. "If you want to
know, you aren't needed for anything until after the sound check party."
Shay sniffled bringing her knees up to her chest and looking out the
window.
"That's not what I came back here for." Justin stated as he sat down
next to her pulling her arm around her shoulder and pulling her towards
him. "I came back here to tell you that I know how you feel. Believe me and
I know you know that I know how you feel. I know you see me when ever my
brothers leave, and I may act more like a jerk, but that's because I
haven't really got to see them for six years." Justin sighed pulling
lightly at her ponytail.
"I need to get another cell phone. I bet my mom's been trying to get
a hold of me and all she has been getting is those stupid fans that jacked
it." Shay sighed wiping her nose with a Kleenex.
"Well, I reported it stolen, so it could have been shut off. You know
you can use my cell phone to call her. I'm not the one that has to see the
bill my mom takes my money and pays it for me." Justin laughed lightly
"You are so mean to your mom." Shay sniffled as she let more tears
fall from her eyes. "She loves you so much and you always make me lie to
her about why you can't talk to her." She added wiping her nose again.
"I'm not mean to her Shay. I just can't stand the pressure she puts
me under, I get it enough here I don't want it with her." Justin stated
pulling Shay closer to him and holding her tighter.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Shay's voice was soft which only
caused Justin's heart to stop even more.
A smile was trying to form on his face, did he just hear her ask what he
has wanted her to ask for months. To talk about it, of course he wants to
talk about it; he has always wanted to talk to someone about how it. He
kissed the side of her head and started to rock them back and fourth.
"She set Britney and I up, saying that she'll be the only girl to
love me for me and not my fame. You know, at first I believed that until
Britney started to tell people that we were dating, and she'd claim to be a
virgin, which I knew she wasn't. She was fame hungry and was using me."
Justin sighed closing his eyes, and "Then I have my mom always on my back
about when I'm going to ask Britney to marry me. I didn't want to get
married to her; she didn't even love me the way that I thought I loved her.
But that still didn't stop my mom from talking to Britney's mom about
marriage. That's why Britney started to wear that ring, I didn't buy it for
her but she didn't let the press know that." Justin added opening his eyes
when he felt an arm go around his waist.
"I'm so sorry." His shirt muffled shay's voice as she hugged him
tighter.
"New Years eve was when I knew I had to break up with her." Justin
said running his hand up and down Shay's back as he closed his eyes and
reopened them.
Justin took a deep breath and willed the tears away, he was in love with
Britney and no matter how much he could deny it he was hurting about
breaking up with her. "How so?" Shay's voice brought him back to the
present.
"You two got in that fight, I only kind of figured out what you two
were fighting about, but now I know what was going on." Justin laughed
slightly at the memory of the fight.
-Flash back-
The beats to the music were thumping in the chest of each person on and off
the dance floor. The year two thousand and two was almost there, less than
a half-hour away. For the first time in years the guys of *NSYNC didn't
have to be on TV or in some other state, they got to be home for the new
year, with their families. The party was being held at Johnny Wright's
place, which was a good thing because everyone and their mother were at the
party.
Justin searched the party for the two women in his life. His girlfriend
Britney, and his assistant Shay, he hadn't got to dance with Britney at all
the whole night and was trying to find her. Slowly his eyes land on Shay,
grinding with Wade. Justin rolled his eyes as he started towards her, only
to stop when Britney, his own girlfriend walked up to Shay and pulled her
away from Wade.
"Slut girl what you doing?" Britney's voice traveled to Justin's ears
"What do you want now? Go be with that boy friend of yours." Shay
snapped pushing Britney back by her shoulder just before she turned and
grabbed Wade's hand.
"Bitch." Britney spat as she grabbed Shay by arm and pulled her
around
"What is wrong with you? Are you slow or something?" Shay hissed
shoving Britney away from her.
"You is what is wrong with me. You've taken everything from me. First
Justin and now." Before any more could be said Justin was grabbing Shay and
Wade was grabbing Britney.
-End Flash back-
Justin laughed again as he pulled Shay's hair out of her hair tie. "I still
can't believe I grabbed you and not my own girlfriend." Justin's voice rang
in Shay's ears.
Shay pulled away from Justin and ran her hands over her eyes. "I can." She
mumbled as she grabbed her hair tie out of Justin's hands and pulled her
hair back up.
"What?" Justin asked grabbing her leg and turning her towards him.
"What did you just say?" he asked again searching her face for something.
"Nothing, never mind." Shay said as she grabbed the day planner and
flipped it open.
Justin studied her side profile, the way she moved her jaw from side to
side when she was trying to figure something out to the way her eyes open
and closed when she blinked. "I need you to cancel everything for Saturday
and Sunday." Justin said licking his lips.
"Why?" Shay asked looking over at him, her eyes drifting to his lips.
"You and I are flying to Florida Friday night after the concert."
Justin answered moving closer to Shay
Shay took a deep breath and started to let it out slowly, "What's going on
in Florida?" She asked closing her eyes.
"Our families are there." Justin breathed moving closer to her.
Just as their lips were about to meet the door banged open causing them to
pull away from each other. Their heads turned and looked at the door and
noticed a shoe lying there. Justin raised both his eyebrows as he stood up
and went to the door looking to find the owner of the shoe.
"Who the hell threw the shoe?" Justin snapped throwing it towards the
front hitting someone.
"Chris threw it, and now my head hurts!" Lances voice yelled out as
he came charging to the back, knocking Justin down on the couch.
Shay let out a laugh as she stood up but was knocked back down by Lance
pulling her feet out from under her. "Chris why did you throw the damn
shoe?" Shay asked as he poked his head into the room.
"It got to quiet back here. We wanted to make sure you both were
still a live, and we didn't want to walk in on you two getting it on."
Chris winked as he wiggled one of his eyebrows.
Shay laughed louder this time as she threw a pillow at him. "Chris he is my
boss! We were talking about out families!" She laughed out when Chris
chucked the pillow at her, only missing her.
"Sure you were! It was all about how many kids you want, and." Before
he could get anything else out Justin was hitting him over and over again
with the pillow that was meant for Shay but hit him instead.
(Same day, JC's dressing room)
Shay was lounged out on JC's couch, while JC was changing into his sound
check clothes. "Then the shoe hit the door." Shay finished looking up at JC
who was still in his boxers and a T-shirt.
"Are you sure he almost kissed you? I mean your eyes were closed." JC
stated digging through one of his bags.
Shay got up and pulled the bag out of his hands, it only took her less than
a minute to find what he had been looking for, for the past ten minutes. "I
could almost fill his lips on mine. If I moved my face less than a
millimeter, we would have been kissing. But no, Chris had to throw the damn
shoe at the door." Shay let out a frustrated growl.
JC sat the pants that Shay handed him down next to his bag and pulled her
against his body by her waist, holding her tightly. "So have you told him."
JC asked backing her into the back of the couch.
"No." Shay sighed looking away from JC. "I haven't told him, because
it was two years ago." She added as she moved and sat on the back of the
couch.
"Who cares if it was two years ago. I promised you I wouldn't tell
him, so now it's up to you. It is actually killing me in side that I can't
tell him." JC stated as he turned around and grabbed his pants.
Shay fell backward, letting her feet hang over the back of the couch. "How
am I supposed to tell him? Oh by the way Justin, I was sleeping with your
best friend for a year two years ago." Shay said bouncing her foot.
"Well that is a start." JC laughed pulling his pants on.
"No it is not. I had to sleep in his hotel room during the No Strings
Attached concert for weeks because he thought that." Shay sighed moving off
of the couch.
"If you think you can have any kind of relationship with him than you
have to tell him. If you don't tell him soon, than I'm going to break that
promise and tell him my self. I don't like lying to my best friend. Even if
that means I break a promise to you while telling him." JC stated as the
door opened and Justin walked in.
"Shay. I didn't know you were in here." Justin said looking at her
than to JC bringing his attention back to his cell phone. "Can you just
please pick us up at the airport. I know it is going to be really earlier,
but I just wanted to see you. I don't care if she is taking the breakup
hard mom, she cheated on me, that is what happens." Justin sighed sitting
down on the back of the couch looking at JC. "I'll see you Friday mom,
bye." Justin added as he hung up the phone.
Justin turned and looked at Shay. "I'm going to leave you two alone." Shay
said as she left the room quickly.
"So." Justin said looking at JC.
"Have you kissed her yet?" JC asked turning around and pulling out a
pair of socks from his bag.
Justin sighed as he stood up and paced around the room. "Close, real close,
but I think I'm trying to hard. I mean, it is just hard to try and kiss
her. I mean I don't know if I'm supposed to kiss her softly, or. she is
different and I." Justin pulled at his hair and looked over at JC for some
help.
JC smiled slightly to him self, turned around and faced Justin. "Open and
wet." Was all he said before he sat down on the couch to put his socks on.
"Open and wet, what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Justin asked
stuffing his cell phone in his pocket and sitting down on the arm of the
couch.
"It means just that, open and wet. The kiss Justin, open and wet." JC
laughed grabbing his shoes and pulling them on one at a time.
"Open and wet." Justin repeated giving JC a weird look.
