¤ Stuck On You ¤
Chapter Ten
Justin was half-awake as he walked through the front door of JC’s place. It might have been 10am, and he might have gone to bed as soon as he got home. He only had a few hours of sleep. Sarah was sitting on the couch eating and watching a movie still in her PJ’s. JC was in the kitchen talking on the phone to someone. He had concern in his voice so Justin assumed he was talking to a still up set Adrea.
It was nearing Thanks Giving. The air started to get colder, Justin was still wearing his coat when he sat down in the lazy boy chair away from Sarah. After he had called her the day he got back, they hadn’t said one word to each other. Every chance Sarah had she was with Trevor, Justin was a little shocked to see Sarah still at home in PJ’s when she could have been out with Trevor. Then the memories came back from last night with Adrea telling him to break up with Sarah or not but to leave and go back home to California.
Justin looked at Sarah and noticed she didn’t look too happy. He looked at the TV and then back at her. He was trying to guess what was wrong with her; his guessing led to him staring at her.
“What the hell do you want?” Sarah’s voice boomed through the front room.
“What’s wrong?” Justin asked
“Nothing, Justin, don’t even ask me anything… I don’t even want to talk to you. I never want to talk to you again!” Sarah said getting up, she sat what she was eating on the coffee table and started to run up the stairs.
That was when he knew what happen. Trevor broke up with her and left to go to back California. Justin stood up and went after her. Surely she wasn’t this up set over him breaking up with her and leaving. They had only been going out about a month or so.
Sarah slammed her bedroom door shut and ran to her bed. Justin opened it minutes later to find her lying on her bed looking up at the ceiling.
“Don’t you know when to leave me alone. I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!” Sarah yelled holding back her tears.
“What did I do? Sarah tell me what I did.” Justin said shutting the door and leaning up against it.
“You know what you did.” Sarah said turning over and putting her face into the pillows letting her self-cry into them.
“I don’t know what I did. All I know is I come over here to see your brother and you freak out on me. I sure want to know why one of my old friends never wants to see me again.” Justin said
He stopped him self when hearing what was coming out of his mouth, ‘old friends.’ What was he talking about? Sarah wasn’t an old friend she was THE friend. The friend he couldn’t live with out.
“I hope you are happy, I can’t believe you told him to break up with me. I don’t know why you would do such a fucking stupid thing! Is it because it would look bad if the press got word that I was dating someone I actually LIKED?” Sarah asked
“He broke up with you?” Justin asked trying to act shocked, “Sarah I would never hurt you like that, I didn’t tell him anything, I haven’t even talked to him since… God I can’t even remember, it’s been that long.” Justin said
“Were you so unhappy that I was having fun, enjoying what happiness he gave me. I LOVED the fact that he was here…” Her voice got soft, to a whisper. Justin had to listen hard to hear her. “I loved him…” She said before crying again
Justin stood there a few more seconds. He couldn’t believe his ears; she couldn’t have loved him. Not Trevor, the guy he hated, the girl he loved had to love him not some other guy.
Sarah looked up at him while she cried she watched him not say a word and walk out of the room. His heart was broken into millions of pieces. JC was on his way up stairs when he seen Justin, he was sitting on the top step looking down staring off into space. JC sat down next to him.
“Who you thinking about? I sure hope you aren’t thinking about a girl named Sarah.” JC said jokingly
“Oh man you are just so fucking funny.” Justin said looking over at him.
“Whoa, what is wrong?” JC asked looking at his young friend. There were bags under his eyes, his hair, or what was growing back was a mess. His cloths were a mess, he didn’t look right.
“Someone didn’t knock me in the head hard enough.” Justin said looking down at his fingers before continuing, “I doubt she’ll ever look at me the way I look at her, I mean after all she LOVED that fucking piece of shit that broke up with her and left. I can’t believe he said I made him do it. Fuck I don’t even know why I’m sitting here telling you, I’m out I can’t record today. I need time to think.” Justin said getting up and running down the stairs.
Before JC could say anything he was gone, slamming the front door behind him. Thoughts were running through his mind. He was never going to get Sarah. Never was the word that he hated, it was time for him to move on. His heart couldn’t take much more pain. All he wanted to do was crawl up into his blankets at home and never leave the safety of them.
The moment the gates shut and he was inside his house, Justin turned up the music on his CD player, sat on the couch with the phone in one hand and the CD player remote in the other hand. He was going to use the phone soon; he just didn’t know how to talk to the person he was going to call.
Turning down the music he pressed the on button on the phone and punched in the numbers to the person he was calling. He let it ring half a ring before hanging up. What was he doing? He was the Justin Timberlake of NSYNC, why couldn’t he make one phone call.
Pressing the on button on the phone again he punched in the numbers and waited for the person to answer the phone. After the fourth ring he hung his phone up and sat there a few minutes. No one was at home, or maybe the number had been changed.
Justin shifted on the couch moving his hip forward on the couch, he ran his hand up his face and through his hair. After taking a deep breath he turned the phone on and dialed a different number, for the same person. He only had to wait two rings to hear the girl answer the phone in a cheery voice.
“Talk to me.” She giggled not knowing who was on the phone. A phone call she was waiting years to get.
“Britney, this is Justin…” Justin said taking another deep breath, this was the easy part, yet it seemed so hard for him to be calling the one girl who started rumors about them dating, rumors about them getting married.
“Justin?” The once giggling voice asked in a more serious tone.
“Yes, the one and only ever so famous Justin Timberlake… How are you doing?” Justin asked trying to sound cool.
“I’m fine, I haven’t heard from you for a while. God… so what is up?” Britney ask in a now more happy voice, the sound in the background was gone now and it was quite.
“Nothing, so… are you in town or on the road?” Justin asked his heart pounding, he loved Sarah, yet he was making this phone call. He couldn’t believe what he was doing.
“Yeah, I’m in town. I’m going to be filming my next video here. I’ll be down at the studio in Orlando.” Britney said you could hear her smile.
“What are your plains for today?” Justin asked, all he wanted was for her to have a boyfriend and to be hanging with him tonight.
“Nothing, I was just going to hang around here and watch TV. How boring is that, I’m 19 and I’m sitting home, doing nothing. I now understand how you feel, the fans are just crazy!” Britney laughed
“So do you want to go out and have dinner, and see a movie? I’m sure I can get Mitch to come with… maybe your bodyguard wouldn’t mind going to see a movie…” Justin said with a nervous laugh.
Britney sat on the line for a few seconds with out talking, Justin thought for sure she was going to laugh at him and tell him she had a boyfriend, that was what he was wishing for.
“I’d love to go out with you tonight Justin, I’d be honored to go on a date with you.” Britney said trying not to scream. Her dream was coming true; the guy she had told she loved him was now asking her out on a date.
“I’ll pick you up at Five-Thirty I’m not going fancy… Too many people would think something was up. Where do you want to eat?” Justin asked
“How about we just have take out at your place or something? Then go catch a movie. That way I don’t have Greg watching me eat. I just can’t stand him watching me eat.” Britney giggled
“Okay, see you at Five-Thirty.” Justin said hanging up the phone.
What was he doing, he didn’t want to go out with her. Maybe he did, maybe he was around Sarah so much that he couldn’t get any other woman into his mind. He had to move on, she couldn’t stand him. She loved Trevor he loved her, she hated him, and he hated Trevor. Britney loved him he couldn’t stand Britney.
