TEXT:  Microsoft Office Professional 2000 Volume I (Grauer & Barber)

DESCRIPTION:     
This course introduces students to microcomputer applications for business. Major topics include Windows operating systems, word processing, financial spreadsheets, database applications, email, local area networks, and the Internet.

OBJECTIVES:        
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Understand the terminology, and history of computers.
2. Make fundamental use of the desktop computer and its parts.
3. Identify and make fundamental use of basic business software.
4. Identify the facets of word processing software and perform basic operations.
5. Navigate the Internet to perform basic searches and research.
6. Compose a very simple web page and place the page into operation.
7. Compose and view their own slide show presentation.
8. Understand and follow fundamental Internet, etiquette, security and copy right 
      procedures.

Student RespoNsibilities:  
1. Students are expected to take and use notes( Student use only NOT graded)
2. Students are expected to complete 2 Exams and Final Exam
3. Students are expected to read and study required reading material.
4. Students are expected to complete 2 in class Projects - Web Page & Power Point            
5. Students are expected to complete 6 lab exercises.

1. Class Times 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM Thursdays
2. Stuart Chastain  Campus  Room 310
3.  NO FOOD or DRINK allowed in classroom.
4. Attendance is required for all classes unless excused. Maximum 3 absences.

6. If for any excusable reason only  you are unable to attend, please inform the                            instructor BEFOREHAND by phone or email. Please make up the work.
7. You will not automatically be withdrawn for non attendance. Official withdrawals are handled only by  submitting an official IRCC form, obtainable at Educational Services or any IRCC site.

GRADING:  
1. Exams    = 100 points each (3 total = 300pts)        A = 90-100% of assigned work
2. Projects  = 50 points (2 total = 100 points)            B  = 80-89% of assigned work
3. Lab Exercises = 25 points (8 total = 200points)   C = 70-79% of assigned work
                                                                                          D = 60-69% of assigned work
