My Mom
"Geraldine (Jean) Beatrice
Valenti"
A strong selfless lady whose life was devoted to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She was born the seventh of nine children in a close, but strict Italian immigrant family. Courageously, she left the only secure environment she ever knew to be with her husband Frank, going wherever in the world the Air Force would send them. Her entire being was devoted to raising her three children (wonderful children they are too!). Only after her children had graduated college, did Mom and Dad move to Florida. There are many things to say and many more to remember about this beautiful loving woman, but for me the thing that most epitomizes her love is a five layer cake she once made for my birthday, each layer a different color and flavor. When I look back , this simple memory is a reminder of the selfless love, devotion, and sacrifice she always gave to her family. Surely she will be missed; the house will never be that clean again, the meals will never taste that good again, the feeling of knowing that she was always there is forever gone, and those very special times such as Christmas will never ever be the same. How can you ever repay someone for loving you their entire life? Perhaps God intended the repayment to be that we would now do the same for someone else. Our only consolation is that she lived a long, glorious and healthy life. Now that she is in the hands of God, we can be sure that she is still watching over us. We love you Mom for who you were and for all you did. You shall be forever engrained in our hearts and in who we are.
